i'm wanting to move to either Wa or Or. not really a preference at this point, but i like the area north of seattle, lake stevens area. my plan is to buy a couple acres and build myself. starting out in one of those tiny homes on wheels. anyway, anyone have pros/cons of living in either state and growing cannabis to make concentrates/edibles to sell to dispensaries. ie- very low plant count limits, really hoop-jumpy rules, etc. thanks in advance!

also, i plan to do 90% of my growing indoors. if i grow outside, it'll be a "fuck it let's see what happens" thing.

the outdoor weather is better in oregon for growing. Washington keeps tightening their medical allowances so the 502 state growers can make more money. Personally id pick Oregon. Growing is legal. Four plants, but hey, legal four plants.

What are the different tiers most legal states have? Say Tier 1 is Personal (6 plants or less). Tier 2 is Recreational (6-200 plants). Tier 3 Commercial (200+). What I am wondering really is what's the next step beyond 6 plants but not getting too large. Like 20 plants.

t looks like both Or and Wa have in the works legislation to change everything in the near future.

I believe oregon also has a micropressor license. For outdoor sites, the micro-canopy ceiling will be 5,000 square feet, and the indoor grows ceiling will be 1,250 square feet. As with other classes of licensure, the canopy measurement standard is “mature marijuana plants.” That means plants that are flowering.

Not sure about washington but I'd be very careful about attempting to grow for profit in oregon. Take a look at my posts in this thread:

https://www.rollitup.org/t/in-growing-large.894937/

In a year or 2 I don't think there will be much opportunity for many oregon producers. Too much weed, not enough buyers.
That's the whole point of Oregon's initiative. Drive prices down so that the black market loses any attraction. Even legal average weed isn't going to command much price. Boutique, top shelf stuff should though because that takes a lot of skill. It has to be better than what the average outdoor amateur grower can produce and it will sell. But the price pressure will be there.

I'm a newbie at growing weed but my four outdoor in Willamette Valley are 5 feet tall and bushy. I bought seeds developed for our climate and so far, so good. I don't think the outdoor weather will be good for long flowering crops. By early October, rain begins, weather cools and by end of October, rain, rain.

Washington has some restrictions on growing. I think as long as you are medical, you can grow four to six plants in any of the two states. I'm not commercial so can't comment on business aspects anywhere other than to say that Oregon has the lowest prices anywhere in the US. That might be bad or might be good depending on how good a grower you are. Top shelf should always be in demand and command a good price.

Personally, OR or WA are all great places to live. Especially near the coast but anywhere, really. Lots of liberals west of the Cascades with highest populations living there. More right wing leaning people live east of the Cascades with lots of cows and farmers living there too. Cows love them some republican politics.

OR is better for growing laws.

WA is better to live in in my opinion, though. MJ is also officially the 'lowest priority' for police, you really only have to be careful about smoking and driving.

the commercial grow permits in WA are hard to get... have to buy one from somebody that already has one. no new permits are being issued. the state just changed medical can only grow 6 plants if you are in the state mmj database. not in database not legal to grow.

I'd say job security would be my first pick, depending on what you do you could get fired, laid off, or want to change companies. Which state provides you with more jobs? For me Washington would be my pick in that case and I wouldnt have to move to a different town if I chose to leave and there laws I could live with. Oregon would be my preferred pick on MJ laws.

Jobs are harder to come by in Oregon outside of the big cities where the cost of living is high (Portland, Eugene, Salem, Bend). However, if you can find a good gig, Oregon is pretty sweet. The weather is much better in Oregon than in Washington for the most part, depending on elevation. I'm in Southern Oregon at lower elevation where the wine crops are popular, so its pretty sweet and relatively inexpensive.

i'm curious, how is the underground market there? can an independent grower still make money? would you be better off selling to dispensaries? and can they buy from whoever or do they have a list of people they have to buy from?
took me years to finally start making a living at this, don't want to think about moving somewhere i'd have to go back to kissing someones ass for a living
