My 2018 Winter Grow

Typically I start my winter grows right after Christmas, but this year I'm staying in town so I started early

Oct 23, 2017 I started germinating a few seeds, 4 Blue Satellite, 4 seeds from a hermie and an unknown seeds (I think it was a big seed).

The Blue Satellite seeds were old and did not do well, so I scrapped them all, the others did okay.

So I bought some Green Crack seeds from my local Marc Emery shop and started them on Nov 1, 2017

I'm really thinking of only going with 2 plants, as they should get large being in a 3 gallon bucket.

I took the best of the hermie's and transplanted it into a one gallon bucket...the others may be disposed of

Anyhow same setup, 600 watt HPS, hempy style (perlite/vermiculite) with a soil cap/core and will use GH Maxi-grow/bloom with cal-mag.

Gals are coming along okay...since last week I have ditched the unknown seedling and transplanted the other into a 2L pop bottle

I still may ditch the 2L pop bottle, and even the hermie seed in the 1 gallon green basket, depends on how big the Green Crack gals get, as they have top priority.

Feed today at 3/4 nutes with 4 ml of cal-mag

the Rick Hermie twins (just a name I made up, as these came from an ounce I bought from my friend Rick...but these weren't hermie but rather were accidentally pollinated resulting in lots of seeds)

The plants are doing okay but I have a bit of an issue with gnats, as such I removed the soil cap and replaced with perlite.

I'm going to pick up some of those yellow sticky traps, and maybe some "Beneficial Nematodes"

Today, I'm going to reduce my light to start flowering, will run 11 hours on / 13 hours off

I believe I have the gnat issue under control, as I haven't seen one in several days

The Green Crack twins are doing well and have taken over the room.....I started another room for the other two RH gals

The Green Crack gals are getting fat, not overly tall but are healthy.....and no more gnats

I no longer move the GC gals to feed/water. I removed the outside buckets, so the waste water just flows down the bathtub drain....the down side is crappy pics with the HPS lights on.....I try to get some shots with the lights off

So I had moved the Rick Hermie gals to another room, but RH1 is getting fat that I've given her the whole CFL/LED room
I am considering buying another light for this room, like either a 250 watt HPS or maybe a 315 CMH
PC160015.JPG

RH1 is doing well, but will never do great with the piss poor CFL/LED lights
PC160009.JPG

RH2 is really stretching like crazy and is skinny, so I found a dead spot to put her in the HPS room but does not get great light as the top half is above the hood...I'm considering trashing this one, but will see how it goes

RH2 is the tallest of the 4 plants, but rather skinny

I clicked the pics just seconds before the HPS came on, only got 2 pic's before the light came on

You may notice that RH2 is no longer in the room....I bought a 315w CMh for the other room as the CFL/LED's were just not doing the trick

The LEC has a different colour than the HPS...and runs much cooler

RH1is doing much better now under the new LEC light

RH2 - didn't take well to the CMh at first, as the top leaves were all curled up, but it seems to be adjusting now

Well if the Edmonton Oiler paraphernalia is any indication these plants will be highly over paid under achievers :P
Sorry had to.
In all seriousness great job man
Cheers :)

yeah, the Oilers are looking like crap again....the flag in the room is only cosmetic as the back-side of the glass sliding door is covered in mylar, so the flag is much like the team, all show and no performance

The Green Crack gals are doing well except the blasted gnats returned, so the war is back on

GC2 is about 5 inches taller than CG1, so I built a better platform which levels the height of the two plants....this also allows GC1 to slide back 2 more inches which provides a bit more space between the two plants

@Dr. Who and you thought I was joking about using my psychedelic xmas paper....but I'm using it for its waterproof properties, as there is a cookbook on top of a plastic tub bowl that I want to keep dry

The two Rick Hermies are about a week older than the Green Crack gals but are not progressing nearly as fast. They did have to spend about 2 weeks under CFL/LED bulbs which really did slow them down.

The new 315w CMh is doing okay, but does appear to be not as effective as the 600w HPS

Here's a pic of the grow closet in the spare room...the white shower curtain is typically left open to allow air flow, but I close it at night, as well as the cover the opening with a sheet.....the cardboard strip has mylar on the back side

all is going okay, I've got the upper hand on the gnats but I won't say the war is over
