~My CFL Grow-Bagseed~

Hello everyone!
I'm starting to grow two plants (from bagseed) under 2 27w 6500k lights.
I've dissected a lamp and am getting a few Y fixtures.
I'm going to be taking apart another lamp and putting a Y fixture on it and buying 2 more 27w cfl's so in total Ill have 4 27w 6500k lights for vegging 2 plants.

Is this enough lights for my plants to veg?
When Im flowering im planning on putting them under 4 more 27w 2700k cfl's

I've already germinated and planted the seeds, and am waiting for a sprout.
I have the pots in my drawer(I heard you don't need to keep the plants under the lights until they've sprouted) and have been waiting 5 since I planted the first seed and 2 since I planted the 2nd.

How long do you think it will take for both plants to sprout?
I'll put pics up as soon as theres visible growth.

~Cheers~

you've got more light then i do per plant and mine are doing fine so far. if you keep the lights real close it should be good.

lol! damn.
Up coming on four days for the first planted..
I just dug up the seed and the root(there was only one.) was tiny and shriveled.
Does anyone know why it was like this?
Am I under watering?
Are the temps wrong?
Last time I check the temp in the grow room was 23 degrees Celsius.
I think that translates to about 73 degrees Fahrenheit but I'm not sure.

soil should be damp to moist. my closet was about 88F of 31C when i was sprouting. dont know about the soil.

oh yeah, seeds should be no deeper then an inch, how deep were yours?

You should have gotten the soil moist before you planted the seeds about 2/3 inch under the soil. Do not water at all until they come above surface, and don't give them any light until they come above the surface. They probably should have sprouted by 4 days, sometimes that just happens. :(
Have any more seeds to throw into germination? What kind of soil mix are you using, that could have something to do with it ... seedlings don't do well with Miracle Grow soil so try to get some Fox Farms if you have access to it.

edit: those temps are fine

Crap!
I have MG Potting soil.
It says its safe for seedlings..
I can't get any other soil right now so it'll have to do.

I'll take some pics of my grow box tonight.
It's a pretty ghetto set-up but I had to make do with what I had..
Instead of using mylar or painting the walls I taped white printer paper to the walls.
It provides the same light reflection as white walls and is removable.

I only have 1 27w cfl in right now over my pots.
I need to buy some Y connectors. Does anyone know if HomeDepot has these in stock?
I couldnt find them on their website, but I figured they might not have added it because it's such a small item.

~Cheers~

I disagree with the light part, if he keeps some light on it then the sprout knows which way to come out. For sprouting I personally just soak the seed overnight, throw it in a rapid root cube thing which I put in my dome under a t5 and I get a pretty high success rate for pretty much any type of seed.

For my mylar I went down to a party store and got mylar paper, it was 2.50 for like 5 2x4 sheets.

I guess people have their ways. I've successfully rooted many seedlings by just moistening the soil and then turning the light on as soon as I see them peak through.

Still haven't gotten the pictures of my box.
I need to get some batteries for my camera and I really don't feel like going out in the rain.
The seeds still havent sprouted.
I'm getting worried.
I took one of the seeds out(it hadnt been growing at all) and put the other one under 1 27w cfl.
I started germinating another seed to make up for the one I killed and am hoping to plant it in damp soil when it cracks and not water this one until it sprouts.
is this a good idea or will it kill the seed?

The seed I started germinating is just starting to crack and I'm starting to see the tip of the sprout.
The sprout still looks like it has the seed on the top of it.
Is this normal?

thats normal. though if you want, once the plant is completely out you can take the shell off yourself. just be careful and don't force it. it'll come off by it's self though, just might take a day or two.

This is a picture of my set-up.
I only have 1 27w daylight cfl over my sprout right now.
You can't see anything in the pot because the plant is BARELY out of the soil and the seed is still on it.
I'll put more pics up when I see some growth.
