My homemade canna cookies

PART ONE: The cannabutter:

This part is variable depending on what effects you are looking for. My method is as follows.

Test # 1 – done by a friend who let me watch (since it was my slow cooker).

Put one pound of butter in a slow cooker and set on low to melt the butter. Add water (varies depending on how much shake or flower you use.

Grind up the pot (shake in this case) or break it down as much as you can to release more trichomes. My buddy did it by hand and unweighed. It looked like a bit less than an ounce.

Add ground cannabis and stir it into the mixture, ciover and let the slow cooker do all the work. We stirred occasionally but he only cooked it for 4-5 hours due to time constraints. He has made butter many times but with varying results.

Use a slotted sppon, or better use a strainer spoon, like you use to scoop french fries out of hot grease to collect all the mash. Use a mesh strainer or a shirt to get the remaining liquid out of the mash and add it to a container. Pour mixture into the container, one that is suitable for the volume. Smaller bottles or jugs with an open neck are best since you still have to fish the butter out later.

Put in fridge overnight so the butter can solidify on top of the water. The next day find something suitable to poke a hole in the butter so you can drain the water. Do what you will with the water, but be warned it is so salty if you drink it you may not pee for a week. After you pour all the water off you should be left with a semi-granular looking St. Patricks day green butter. Get cooking!


Test # 2

Mostly the same with more finely ground shake this time. Interesting NOTE, there was a fine powder all over the metal bowl my wife ground it into. I wiped it up with my finger and I ate it. It was finer than iciing sugar and tasted exactly like Green Morrocan hash. We used 36 grams this time and cooked it on low for 8 hours. The output with the same recipe was awesome. I was eating 2 each moring from the first batch but only one seemed to help well form the second batch. Since it ony lasts 6-8 hours I took the second one late afternoon. The result was a more pleasant evening and I slept better than usual.

So next I will post my recipe for awesomely delicious cookies with cannabutter.

PART TWO - The Cookies

Thumbnail Cookies are awesome with cannabutter.

Ingredients:

½ c. butter

¼ c. brown sugar

1 egg (separated)

1 c. flour

jam or your choice

N.B. I use Raspberry Blue Menu twice the fruit with less pectin (so it is not gluey). The distinct flavour of the cannabutter mixed with the raspberry is actually quite nice. Bet I can't eat just one.

Method:

Mix butter & brown sugar thoroughly.

Add egg yolk & flour.

Mix all ingredients together.

Roll pastry in small balls, approximately 1”.

Place on greased cookie sheet and press thumb (or something round) into center of each cookie.

Bake for 5 min.

Remove cookie sheet from oven & for the second time, press thumb in center of cookie.

Bake 10 -12 min. more (up to 15 minutes for a crispy cookie)

Remove cookie sheet from oven.

While still hot, add dollop of jam in the indented center of each cookie.

Let cool for 10 min. & remove cookies from cookie sheet.

This is by far one of my favorite cookies, with or without cannabutter.

I decarb my weed at 240f for 90 minutes prior to making the butter, then it only takes a short time, (I give it an hour) of cooking before it is ready to strain and chill. I find that my edibles are more potent with the decarbed butter also!

zoic, about how many cookies does this recipe make? Sounds good!
It depends on how you divide the dough. My wife rolls it into 18 balls. Quick math:
1Lb butter makes four 1/2 cups.
So approx. 36 grams of shake with the butter/4 is 9 grams per batch.
!8 cookies equals about 1/2 gram per cookie. YMMV

This shake I used was already dried by the grower. As a result I did not feel the need to decarb and the output seems to work well. I have read many times now that people decarb and get better results. I will certainly need to when I get cuttings that are not properly dried out. Do you think it would maker much difference if the shake is already very dry? If I decarb at 170F is that still effective. I want to make sure I preserve at least some of the terpenoids.

PART THREE - The brownies

I made these for my buddy. He has breathing issues and cannot continue to smoke, if has been 6 weeks. He tried just one of my cookies and was pleasantly buzzed all evening. He brought all the ingredients because he wanted ALL organic. I used 7 grams of dried Blueberry, screen sifted. I divided the square tray of brownies into 16 pieces (4x4) to make portions close to a 1/2g per serving. I tested them as requested. They were delicious, and the potency was on par with the cookies.

Cocoa Brownies

Ingredients:

3/4 cup unsalted butter

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1-1/2 cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs (I doubt the egg size matters much)

1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract (the Madagascar vanilla gives it a nice bouquet)

3/4 cup flour

1/2 tsp. salt



Method:


Preheat oven to 350 F.

Grease & flour a 9" baking pan.

Set aside.

In a small saucepan, heat butter over high heat until it is melted.

Remove from heat & let cool for 5 minutes.

Whisk in the cocoa powder & sugar into the butter until well blended.

Add the eggs one at a time, whisking after each until the mixture is smooth & shiny.

Whisk in the vanilla.

Sift flour & salt into the batter.

Mix until well combined & no trace of the dry ingredients remain.

Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan & bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with only crumbs. (Ours was perfect after 30 minutes)

Allow to cool 1 hour.

For those who cannot manage this sort of recipe prep, I suggest using a "snack n cake" or whatever they are called now. I have made some with 5-10 grams of hash and they were incredible. I have no doubt a 1/4 oz. of pot in cannabutter would be just as effective. Much less work that way, and I found the "spice cake" one really married well with the hash for flavour

I always dry before decarbing. You could probably decarb at 170f, but I would think it would take a few hours.

Thanks for the insight. I did it a number of years ago and it stunk the place up pretty bad. I was living in a row house and running a home business, so I had to re-calibrate. :shock:

Well after much experimentation I have determined that 1 cookie in the early morning and 1 cookie mid late afternoon has the best results for me. The morning cookie seems to energize me somewhat and promotes appetite. I am very relaxed and at ease for 6-8 hours. The afternoon cookie seems to extend that feeling and I seem to sleep much better, more restfully. I tried 4 cookies last Thursday, 2 of mine in the AM and two of my friends (stronger batch) around 4PM. By 6 PM my body was too stoned and moving felt like severe chronic fatigue. I felt like a statue, LOL.
