Question, did it smell while growing or are you noticing it during cure?

If it never smelled, it could be too much light. Just what I've heard. Bleaching your buds can have a lot of bad juju.
I just read that if you smell the pungent yummy weed smell it's because you're busting up your trichomes which is bad.

I have grown white widow and white widow big bud and neither of them are super smelly. I have some that has been jared for over a year with boveda and it still smells the same. I wouldn't worry about it
Rub some trichomes between your fingers, grind them up. does that smell?

What type of light do you use? I get better terpines when using my 400w hps over CFL or inexpensive LED. I also use Terpinator. I feel it helps. I've had grows that just smell like hay so I feel your pain..

All that being said it's probably too fast of a cure. Keep your hygrometer in your space and dry slowly. When you're just harvesting a few ounces it can dry really fast. Large scale growers may be drying pounds at a time so the humidity may be higher and more stable.

Best////
I veg for 2 months dependant on circumstances under and 300w dual spectrum cfl and then flower under a 600w hps and a 700w led mars hydro. Yeah it always looses around 75% total weight from cut to smoke which is why I do everything possible to increase yeild. I top the supercrop mixed with lst then sometimes top once more, I'm averaging 3oz dry per plant which is poor I know. The quality is good it's always had strong bud but I never seem to manage to get the smell of weed I buy lol.

Good to know. What about when they're flowering?
Well in that case airflow on the plants is good. But just like everything else to much isn't good. The leaves moving gently is welcome. Leaves and branches blown back like the hair on a dog with its head out of the window of a moving car. Not good. It will get wind burn and leaves will turn brown where they're hitting something.

I grow ww and it reeks all the way through. I harvest when plants are ready, cut the buds off the sticks and put them in my hanging drying rack. Its in a dedicated drying closet, grow tent, with a dehumidifier(thats the thing that keeps humidity correct, not air circulation fans btw)
the closet room is also heated/cooled to around 72f. Rh is kept below 50%. In 4-6 days the stems snap, in another few days the buds are delivered to my patients. I've "cured" too, and find my properly grown buds d just dont get stinkier, better, stronger, more potent than during the first month after harvest. Jut like my peaches, I like them fresh too. degraded buds are for the compost.
If I choose to over feed to end of cycle I absolutely have to "cure" after buds are dry, so I dont do that.
If I had a plant at harvest that didnt stink I'd scrap it, just me, because I'd know it was my fault.... who wants hay in their sack?
better luck next time

Yes it smells and both strains different. Had this issue before and it was still strong weed but still I want that awesome smell!
The kind where you bury your face in it and take a full breath :weed:. I'm no expert, but maybe take the CFL out of the equation for one batch? gl.

I've found that the slower they dry the better. That's why I hang my whole plants cut at the ground. When I can I'll remove the fan leaves. When I've got 20 done at exactly the same point I don't. I also play with my humidifier accordingly if needed to reach my goal. I work it so on about day 10 I'm doing what I refer to as rough trimming. This entails removal of any fan leaves, excess stems, and then I "shape " the buds still on the stems this is when any leaves around the flowers without trics is removed. At this point I put them in cardboard trays I got for free from the box store (bj's Costco etc) they are sturdy because they pack multiple packs of fruits or vegs. They also have holes for ventilation because the items it's designed for need it. I then put them back in the tent and finish off the drying process. Usually another week. If I have to turn off the exhaust fans every once in awhile to slow it down that's what I do. In the winter my house can get quit dry. Humidity can get as low as the 30s. If that the case I'll put a humidifier OUTSIDE the tent. Also to slow it down. After 17-20 days TOTAL they get the final cleaning. It's at this point in time I'm taking off the sugar leaves I save these for future bubble hash. Then it's clipped of the stem to finished quality and then jarred. It works well for me!

So you go from harvest to smoke in less than 10 days?

The weed smells good and obviously if you break it up it smells more its just not the kind of weed that if you put it in your trunk it still makes your car reek of weed. Really I prefer it to be like that, I don't even have to run carbon filters

I could go for a little less smelly too but I would not sacrifice taste for it. I have good air exchange control and vent to the outside but my house still reeks in certain areas and I put a lot of time and effort into preventing that. Oh well, that's a compromise.

I follow directions for a flawless result every time. I can count on it. Proper feeding, atmosphere controls and handling go a long way to avoiding the tobacco craze curing. but to each their own, if my patients wanted old degraded weed I'd provide that. None of my garden herbs taste better months later either. As soon as my rosemary is dry its best then. same with tobacco if its not fed nutrients to the day of harvest.

My medium is soil. On my 6th week of flowering.
I've never flushed nutrients before. I'm going to put my trichomes under the microscope today, I think I'm running late flushing. Do you know how long it takes to clean out the nutrients?

Right, atmosphere is king. Easier said than done. Temperature being the hardest to control.

you cant "clean out the nutrients" like you think. all the nutrient I've used advise tapering ppm's towards the end of flower leaving almost plain water used in the last few days.
atmosphere is tough. I was really fortunate to be able to build the whole thing before a seed was planted. Literally I set it and forget it now nary an issue

I'm just taking a guess as no pics. But 6 weeks is too early to be looking at trichs. Some don't even believe a 7weaker to be possible. I've harvested my master kush clones betweed day 49-53 but it was a bit early still.

Don't flush... Feed properly

Your plant will use less nutes at the end. Let it calm down.
During the most of flowering we attempt to push the plant to its limits. Lowering lights upping n mg up rh increase airflow.
Think like a race car engine and it's air fuel ratio alone with compression back pressure etc.

Let it relax as it finishes an Amber head is done. A clear one isn't. Continuing to blast until all are mature is detrimental. This is also the idea behind a 2 day dark period before chop

How does your weed smell when you bust or bruise a nugg ???

I have bud ATM that will stink up a room just sitting out .....but I also have bud that just smells slightly citrus until you go busting it apart ...and then it's aromas become evident .......cure time can work wonders on bringing out the smell of your bud as well ....

I didn't say you don't want fan in the room. I said you don't want fans blowing ON your plants. Maybe read the whole post before quoting in it.

I did, jackass, and I specifically stated that you "DO!" want fans blowing on your plants. Since you want to act like a smart ass, I'll point out that you said..

Use SMALL fan(s) to circulate the air WITHOUT blowing directly on the plants.
I'm stating that you absolutely DO want fans blowing on your plants/buds. Ossilating wall fans, I even move the can filters closer, "cornering" the hanging plants. Keep in mind that I'm not advocating "heavy", but light flow. Maybe read the whole post before quoting it. Better yet, comprehend the whole post before shitting on it.

Again, if you don't have fans blowing on your drying plants you run the risk of humid "pockets", which will aid botrytis (bud rot) in taking hold.

Subtle "swaying" of the hanging plants is "ideal".
