So heres that I want to do. Take a 4 bulb vanity light, and wire it to a extension cord. Heres my view on how easy it seems. get a 3 prong cord cut the end off with out plug. wire positive, negative and ground from vanity to cord. Tape it up really good and plug it in good to go...

Am I correct?, it seems to simple to be true but then again it doesn't seem complex.

its even easier.

go to home depot and they sell 3 prong extension cords with the 3 wires already exposed for about $5, so all you have to do is wire it up and electrical tape it. No cutting.

Yep it's as simple as that - exactly how I wired mine up. Really you don't even need the ground because the neutral also acts as a ground but I grounded mine for added safety.

any of them will work. I used the cheapest one I could find and powered a fixture with 12 27w cfls with no problems

Don't be cheap get wire nuts. And you can pretty much power anything most are rated to 125 volts and around 1500 watts. That would take a few CFL's to blow it out lol.
