im not a gardening expert but im thinking the plant spreads its energy evenly throughout every branch?

i wish someone could confirm this or just call me out as wrong so i kno for the rest of my life lol

either way the proof i do have is ive seen shaded bud sites grow the most piece of shit nugs ever, that might as well be thrown in for hash or oil

id just rather have that energy used elsewhere

so if you removed branches producing shitty buds, or if u removed leaves blocking bud sites...you would end up moving the plants energy (stored in leaves) else where.....

Great question.
As they are growing... the leafs photosynthetic rate increases due to an expansion in leaf surface area. Just after the leaf reaches max expansion size it is then referred to as a "source site" because it is producing or synthesizing more carbohydrates then it can use locally so the carbs take the train to the actively growing part of the plant, which are referred to as "sink tissues". They are called this because they take imported carbos and metabolize them with other compounds that form the carbs into eithier new structures, or storage.
New structure would in our case refer to new buds, leafs, shoots, roots...ect.
Storage sinks would include seeds. In other plants could include fruits, seeds and roots or tubers. Think potatoes, they potato is the "storage" for the carbs unused by the leaves. Pull off "source site" leaves on a potato and you'll get little potatoes"
This is why UB can't stand it when people decide to pull off perfectly healthy large "source site" leaves. Any other leaves not fully developed are causing a drain on the plant, they are using as much or more energy "carbs" then they produce.

Apart from that I personally pull off some of the the lower buds and leaves that are not going to get enough light, to develop the way i want, but I NEVER remove older fully developed "source site" leaves. Even when I lolli I leave the fan leaves that are fully developed and remove only the axial limbs. I think this helps considerably for yield when lollipopping or for the purists pruning my plants. (to lollipop ALL vegetation is removed).
