need help db chip cxb 3590

so I was sick of buy new hid bulbs every year ..wanting to get into high end led cobs...before I switch out all my lights to led cobs I bought a unit just for mothers and babys to try out it is 240h-c1750 dbchip cxb 3590 cob 6500k ...I should have done more research before I bought it ...but I thought it would be good for mother and babys since its 6500k what do u guys think will this light work for vegging only PLEASE HELP

6500K is great for vegging. A lot of blue will help for closer nodal growth. Great buy. The lower the kelvins the warmer or more red, the higher the kelvins the cooler or more blues.

@VegasWinner is spot on. My last veg light was using 5K 3590's and only because I could not find the 6500K in stock at the time of the build. It was the one COB light thus far that has impressed me the most. And it did a fantastic job at veg only. You did just fine and have nothing to worry about. Right light for the right use. Please keep us posted I for one am interested to see your results.

so I'm just starting to figure this light out its got dimmable dial on it ...what would u recommend distance for seedlings/fresh rooted clones /after transplant/and adults ... my driver is my first post ,,,I was told it uses 250watt max

Hey emmitt!

It depends on how hard you want to drive the COB's.
At 1750mA or 65w per COB(36v version) I would recommend:
Clones/Seedlings: >2'-3' from canopy
Mothers and vegging: >24" from canopy
Flower: 16-24" from canopy

Dimm it down to 50% output and you can reduce the distance by a 4-6 inches.

But is it a 2(72v) or a 4(36v) COB setup?
If it's a 2 COB setup and COB's are running very hard/126w at full blast, I would rise it up another few inches just to avoid stress or bleaching.
A picture of the unit would be helpfull to judge light spread and intensity...

TS, sorry to invade ur thread. but can i inquire regarding the kelvins. if i just put 2700k cxb 3590 cobs only for flowering period, is that ok?

FWIW I used to use a cxb 3590 3000k at 50 watts for veg.
The plants were short and squat probably because the light was quite close to canopy due to height restriction but no complaints on plant structure.
I changed setup to 3 x 1212s 3500k at 23 watts each for better light distribution.

2700k has IR which 3500K does not have you can mix the two 2700K and 35900K or 3000K, btw HPS does have IR in the light spectrum.

for veg I use 5000k with additional royal blue at 25w/sf. If I need to move them faster I raise the watts and they grow faster and thicker. There are a some folks using 6500K for veg and find it very successful outcomes. More Blue in veg, more Red in Bloom is always a good rule of thumb.

thanks for your input ....I havnt seen to many people mention using 6500k...iv always used big cfls 6500k for starters then movem too hid lighting...which mh is usually 6500k s I figured getting the 6500k in cob would be the same ...

Are you sure?
Above uploaded a screenie of the Citi CRI90 spectrums and I see mostly similar IR output for 2.700, 3.000 and 3.500°k, only the higher kelvins have much less ir... although, 2.700k still has the most IR, 3k and 3.5k are not far behind.

BTW,
I've also added a few 430's and 660's to my 5000k veg light and got most horizontal growth and densely staggered nodes ever, Lol! The 660's have no visible influence, but are supposed to improve root growth below the ground.
6x12w (CXA2540 @ 350), 2x3w 430nm + 3x2w 660nm(10w generic COB's @350mA), 87w net / 95w wall @ 3-6sft.

just to let you guys know my veg light 240h-c1750 4 dbchip 36v cxb 3590 cob 6500k is kicken ass plants have responded very well growing fast it took a couple days to find what they like but know I have it on 8dimmable 0-10...about 24-28 in away they were just transplanted ...loving life

lol. looks like we agree that COBs are the bomb. :D
will def wanna try the 6500k cobs for my next grow.
