Havent done a grow in about 10 years, remember this forum being stellar and still seems that way

Have ordered the Ph drops kit and will see where the tap water is, both pre and post filtering.

At what stage should i start considering nutes?

My gut was telling my they were too small at the mo but can't actually remember when i used to start applying them, especially with these guys that seem to be growing really slowly, prob as a result of my underwatering? Had remembered that letting the soil dry out a bit was good to let the roots stretch and develop, but seems i took it too far..

Quick update here guys.

Got a man from the water company to come and check the water himself, came with all his kit etc.

Tap water is 0.04 ppm and 7.6Ph

Through the brita filter its still the same on chlorine - 0.04 ppm but Ph slightly lower at 7.1

What do you guys think about these stats? Is everything ok? And would you still be putting water through the brita filter or is it ok as is?

Hi Y'all,

Just wanted to post an update here as things are still not looking great for these guys.

Did the bottom watering and sand topping that @cage suggested about 10 days ago and have had them in full shade as advised, but they still look miserable. This is now 7-8 weeks into the grow and can't think why it's going so badly tbh, from what i can see all i did was underwater them a bit too much a month in to try let the roots stretch, clearly made a mistake there but am suprised about the measure of the repercussions here.

Wondering if you guys think there is something else at play here?.. Have now had the Ph of the water tested, keeping them in pretty neutral (full shade) environments but they seems to be doing nothing.

As for the temperatures we are around 23-25c by day and the lowest it goes down to is 12c at night, but usually aorund 14c.

Any advice appreciated.. Have attached a good few pics so you can see where they are at.

When so small plants get stunted good it can take awhile to recover.
Like if some of the roots dried up previously and there wasn't much leaf mass,
it takes awhile to grind up some nutrients and make up decent root system all over again in order to grow well again.

On the brighter side, the stems still look green, the newest growth seems pretty decent.
I reckon they might have built themselves some roots by now and should continue to recover and start growing faster.
I'd say keep the pots moist, but not too heavy and you should be able to transplant in a week.

I think its your soil. You need a better potting mix. Also, try using some molasses. 1 teaspoon of molasses per gallon of water. The molasses will lower the ph of your tap water and feed the plants some valuable nutrients and sugars. Feed them once a week.

I'm pretty certain that the ph of your soil is off and the Nitrogen is being locked out.
