so you start w/ starter soil, does that not have any nutrients? And at your first transplant would you then switch to a fertilizer like 20-5-5 high in nitrogen?

You don't add any ferts for about the first month.

Then go with fox farm grow big.

yeah k-town you want to avoid nutes for the first 3 weeks, then I would start experimenting with low doses provided its not burning. Then after 4 weeks go 1/2 strength and increase as needed...High nitrogen for vegging is good.

Assuming you're buying bagged soil, the best thing to do is read the bag, it will tell you whats in it. 20-5-5 would be good after your transplant.
