need medical strain advice

I have back pain in my lower back and down my left sciatic nerve, to the point of limping on bad days. Am I a medical marijuana candidate?

If so what strain would be best for me? I haven't smoked regularly in over 15 years, and back then i stopped because I seemed to get paranoid and way too introspective.

I would be interested in something that would help me sleep at night(it is hard some nights due to pain), and a strain that would be very uplifting and make me laugh in the daytime with no paranoid effects. So I figure it will be two differnt strains.

Last i would wonder how I find a doctor in san diego county in case my current doctor freaks on the idea. What do you all have for input?

I appologize if this is not the correct spot for this post, but i feel the most intelligent posts i find are with you people (excluding whulkamania, LOL!) so any advise would be appreciated.

Peace :peace: and Karma  to all...

moving this thread here so here is some extra info...
I'm in san diego california. My concern is that if i get a medical card and grow my own that i wind up 3 months later with a strain that gives me paranoia. Remember I've gone 15 years with only a little hear and there so i am very new to all the top quality strains. Northern Lights just came out when I stopped smoking. LOL!! and never have tried it...

I should add that i figure i will have to grow my own since neither my girlfriend or my close friends smoke and I am a manager at work so can't really ask anybody there to hook me up.kiss-ass

By the way How do i bump this to the most recent to get a little more interest and advice? Or does it to that auto? I'm on 2 hours sleep so brain is not working...

Yes

If you get a medical card, go to a dispensary in your area and ask for some advice and buy some samples. You will most likely be best suited with an indica stain. I have similar issues with pain do to back pain, arthritis, sleep, and migraines. White Widow has been my favorite with Northern Lights as my second favorite. Both will give you couch lock highs but I find them to be energetic ups. I have never had any paranoia with either strain.

You are looking at a indica/sativa mix which might cause paranoia. Once again, use a trusted dispensary to help you choose. A 100% sativa will give you lots of energy and will be a social high but the chances of having a freak out are increased.

You guys all have some great advice! I like this forum, many good people.

Dang I really wanted to try a blueberry, sounds sooo good!

Some strains that intigue me from what I've read so far (but not tried) are: Chocolope, Bubblegum, Northern Lights, Thai-Tanic, Burmese Kush, Blueberry, Neville's (or Arjan's) Haze, White Widow.

What do you guys think of any of those strains?

Also keep in mind I was really into genetics in college (the short time I went) and will probably want to do some breeding of my own down the road. The idea of coming up with a whole new strain completely intrigues me. Any of you done that?

For your pain you are going to want an Indica dominant strain. This will give more of the full body high that tends to target acute and chronic pain. You will be able to determine what is best for your pain. If you get a medical card, try some different strains on the advice of the club where you can get some samples of different types. This way you can narrow things down and not waste 4 months on growing the wrong strain. They can also probably hook you up with some clones to get you started. Hope that helps-

Jack Herer comes in many different phenotypes. The indica phenotype is actually fantastic for treating pain. The sativa pheno has more Haze qualities. That sounds like what you are describing.

This is good advice, you will get to sample the product right away. Then if u like the strain see about getting some clones. Fuck growing from seed unless u have to.

If you want to try Blueberry, go for a Blueberry cross, that has been crossed only to bring in the BB flavor. For example, Blueberry x Northern Lights is a good one. I grew some and the high is pure Indica, with Blueberry scent, and flavor, I can't remember where my buddy got the seeds but I will ask him and let u know.

some high thc strains id say would be blueberry, white russian and theres more out there i cant think of. but to be all honest weed wont take away that kind of pain your doctor should be prescribing you oxykotton (my dad has cyatic nerve problems and hes got the 40mbg oxys.)

Yes you have valid reason to get a Medical Marijuana card.

You should try out some Indica's because those will put you to sleep, Try Northern Lights or White Widow and that might do the trick.

You might want to stay away from Sativa's due to those giving you a energetic high and being up all night and being social.

Thank you Duff420, Trapper, Kush, and everyone! Keep the advice coming!!

My aim is to take less of the vicodin I'm currently on, or at least stop any need for something stronger, by finding the right strain. I really want to stay away from Oxy's. Too addictive for me. I know they serve a purpose for people like your father, but for me they are evil.

Anybody else have tried the strains I mentioned in quote? Or done breeding? I would be thrilled if I could develope a strain suited perfect for my situation. That would ROCK!!! And possibly help many others!

There have been scientific pain studies done that show med marijuana canabanoids actually helps opiate based pain relivers work up to 50% more effectively.
