Need some help! First time Growing

So I've decided to start growing some pot. I dont want to do like its my job. I just want some stuff for me. I dont have the room/supplies to make a super nice setup. So what I have is a heat light I could change bulbs with, and some of the pots/soil, ext.

Here is my problem. I cant check it every couple of hours. I would check it once or twice a day. I would like not to have the light on at night, which I know I dont need.

That being said, what is my best bet? I dont wanna over do it and get chemicals and such. Just use light and water it.

I know that its best to plant the seeds with teh point up, put seeds in distilled water for a night before planting, and have a lighting schedual(12/12, 8/12 ect). What are some easy things that will help my plant grow fast and be potent? Like little things that I could get a hold of easily?

The more you spend the more you get, will smell be a problem? You're not gona get what you want if you dont spend some money. Although I have seen weed grown cheap, but if your grow again your aswel spend the money and get the gear.

this heat ligth is crap.

i would invest a little for lighting and a timer. but thats just me. but turning lights on and off can be a hassle.

growing a small stash for yourself is all well and good, but this is going to be a 3-5 month process and you will be disappointed after all of that if you walk away with 1/16-1/8 of an ounce of mediocre weed. for under $50 you can get a few decent cfl's and some cheap type of nutrient to help you a bit and actually finish with a modest yield that will be worth the work. Do a bit of research early and it will all pay off for you in the end. Good Luck on your grow.
