Yeah, I've been slacking on the thread and pics but as promised, here we are.

2 Mephisto Hubbabubbasmelloscope in coco hempy's with supplemental air.

Seedlings breached the surface on 7/11. Started under 1 autocob @55w.

7/29 first pic, proof of life.

P7290014.JPG

At this point I plugged in COB #2, total 110w. My camera hates taking pics under COBs.
8/3 Day 23. Plant on the left has height advantage. She'll be topped.

Let's see how she felt about that, shall we?

So far, not much difference in growth than was already apparent before snip. Other than having 2 tops, they're very similar in branching. Most of the differences so far are just due to different pheno's. The taller girl seems to want more mutes but 'm having a hard time figuring her out. Once week 2 hit and I went to full nutes the shorter one is happy and content.

Waiting to see how big these girls end up before I plan my next round of Mephisto's. Possibly topping one again, who knows? :bigjoint:

Gonna try to update every 5-7 days.

Nice, I'll be watching this one as well.

good work .........i been down this road i like to help u

topping during start of flowering horrible idea
topping during veggie works but does stunt the plant over all (even with the honey coating the cut to seal off)

Femming .......just ran a experimental plant out side using this from my grow partner .......100% would say to do again
it will make more colas with less trauma to the plant from topping it off completely ...over all height was the same as other not touched

Scrog.......100% works using hydro system for auto plants as for soil grown no plant to date has merited the attempt or needed the support

all auto plants .....just starting the advance tricks myself on autos

Update!
Pic from 8/17. 35 days from sprout. Buckets are on the floor now. Topped girl still on the left.

No sign of stunting. She's maintaining her height advantage. She's a freak though. I was doing some lower trimming yesterday and noticed she has 3 branches on the node below where I topped her. Dunno how I didn't notice before. Gotta rearrange the plants and get the last 2 lights on as they're starting to flower.

Not much difference between the two. The topped plant isn't branching like I expected. Nothing like the cheese did. Other than slightly taller side branches, they're about the same.

I just recently Uncle Ben topped 2 autos and they're trucking along nicely. Got more budsites than the single topped ones of the batch. Did the deed 14 days from sprout.
But they were very quick at shooting out their secondary branches pre top.
2 main cola branches are sitting at close to 2 feet while the secondary mains are around 6 inches shorter. They were throwing out preflowers at day 21 and pistils a few days later.
I wouldn't do it to every auto plant.
I just know how photo plants respond to the method through practice and which ones will truck along nicely. Applied it to autos and I'm pleased.
I'll have a yield comparison when they're all finished.

Pretty interesting stuff :) I'm near the end of a similar test, using a spawn of your strain Sour Bubbly (Hubba x 24 Carat ) from Mephisto. I let one go natural, one got topped, one LSTed, and one scrogged. The strain was a natural multi-cola grower, so it was a much better fit for this kind of testing than say Heisenberg, which was a shorter single cola for me and any tampering would only have hurt it imo..
I'm only around 8-9 weeks into this run expecting around 75-80 day finish, but I'd be happy to share results if anyone is interested as I'll be following along watching the Hubbas do :)

Welcome to day 56ish. Pulled the natural girl out so I could get to the topped plant so I grabbed a couple quick shots.

Uncut girl.
P9050033.JPG

Topped (pics are terrible inside the closet)
P9040031.JPG

She's actually slightly LESS bushy than her sister. They are definitely different pheno's. Different growth rates, structure, color, hunger, you name it. Other than coming from the same pack of seeds these are 2 very different plants.

Both packed in the closet
P9050036.JPG

The topped girls self repair/pretending she wasn't topped. You can see where the branch grew right over the cut. That whole side of the plant became larger/heavier. You can kind of tell in the closet shot above where the right side leans to the wall.
P8220029.JPG

So all in all it looks like this go at topping did basically nothing much imo. No extra branching but also no harm done. The only real difference from before being topped is that the topped plant lost her height advantage and took a few extra days before flowering. She was about an inch taller, after stretch she's about 2" shorter. Negligible difference with 4' plants.

@GuyLeDuche I'm sure I'm not alone in having interest with your results. I'm of firm belief that topping an auto is no worse than topping a photo provided no other type of mistakes were made. Mostly things that disturb the roots. I see more stunted auto's due to LST or transplanting than from topping. NOW, just because of what you said about Heisenburg, I'm gonna top one. lol. Maybe a Deep Blue C too. Both said to be on the smaller side, I'm curious.

honestly i had a sour melon mss auto, it grew into the led light about a week and half into flower, cecked it next day and it was burned good , so i cut the top bud site off. That top cola split into about seven buds that weighed a quarter dry each, i got 4.1 oz off it no shit

Here is the BKR I topped. Took this today. This is the first time I chopped the top off an auto. I kinda like it. In fact, a few days ago I chopped the tops of 4 more upcoming BKRs. I like how it gets all the bud sights pretty much on an even plane.
