New Attic Grow room

Well its been a while but I finally made some more progress on the room

So I ran electricity up to the attic using the same outlet that I had been
using before in the Basement. I ran a heavy gauge extension cord up
through the floor in the hallway closet to the attic. I know that outlet
has a dedicated 20 amp circuit and can run all my stuff.

Next I wanted to set up the light and make sure everything worked

Here is my cool tube, it is a Sun System Sun Tube Reflector.
I bought it here at www.4hydroponics.com
it was $109.00 and it came quick.
Most important the cord fits my ballast.
I took the internal reflector out, was kind of a bitch.

Definatley helps to have a dolly for moving the heavy stuff around
in a cramped space.

Next I used the hooks that came with the cool tube to hang it
from the wood board I put up in the center of the room.
The metal strap holding the hook is for hanging HVAC vents, I
got it at Home depot.

I hung the cool tube up on the hooks.
It came out a little lower than I had expected but I geuss I can
always change that if need be by moving the hooks further apart.

Then I installed the fan at the end of the cool tube pulling air over
the bulb. This was a lot harder than I thought it would be, could of
used a second set of hands for sure. I used a 4" to 6" reducer that
I bought at Home Depot to fit to my fan. I eventually turned the
fan around to blow over the bulb and in this circumstance it definitely
worked better.

Here are some pics of the light on

This is my construction zone buddy, he keeps me company up there

Yeah I think the next step is covereing the inside of the tarp with mylar but i'm pissed because I bought 100 ft from growco at 4hydroponics.com and I think its cheaply made. When I was cutting a piece earlier I held it up to the light and could see right through it. I have a large old piece that I got from a friend and that completely blocked the light. I figure if I can see through it then it can't be blocking as much light as the better stuff. I don't want to put up 70 ft of shit mylar and have to replace it later.

This is the link to the stuff I bought

http://www.4hydroponics.com/lighting/mylar.asp

Am I supposed to be able to see through it?

I Added the front wall using the Panda plastic and made the door
with the tarp zippers. I added velcro to the top to make a light
tight seal, i punched a bunch of staples into the velcro on the
crossbeam, it kept unsticking when I pulled the two apart, strong
velcro.

The tarp zippers worked really well and were easy to use. After going
back and forth about if I wanted the door to zip down or go up, and
which would work best, I decided to have it fold down I will just deal with
working over it instead of under.

I thought the zippers were going to be light proof, but I guess not.

I used the vent mounting plate from my old light hood to connect the
intake for the fan. Not really ideal but its better to recycle I guess.

Now i gotta work on the other side of the tube, using 6" dryer hose
straight out and down into a vent in the celling of the spare bedroom.

I still have to put up the back wall, i'm definatley using what I have
left of the panda plastic instead of the grey tarp. on that note I
should of done the whole thing in plastic in the first place instead of
tarp, and I plan on making at least one of the sides in the back with
some sort of door so I can access the plants in the back better. I also
bought some real 2 mil mylar, and will cover the top and sides. If I
had done it all in Panda plastic I probably would just leave it white.

The plant in the background is a bagseed I found, It had a rough start
but since this pic was taken it has been doing a lot better. this is one
I took just now. about 6 days between pictures.

I just got seeds from Nirvana, I got the white label mix cause im
cheap and couldn't make a decision. It came with 25 seeds and 5
freebie seeds-Mazar. germinating 6 of the mix seeds now. I placed
the order at Nirvana on 1/21/09, i put cash in the mail that day and
they were in my P.O. Box on 2/9/09 which was yesterday. I also
ordered some flying dutchman strawberry cough and should be here
friday if the shipping times are the same as before.

hmm just was checking out the pics agian and saw that i believe the way you hooked up your lights .....can you lower them??? i had my room done and then put my little ones in there and the light was around 3 feet away from them and with my blower right next to my light it was tricky to convert it so i can raise and lower the light and the blower just saw that in the pics
