Hello all, I am starting my fourth grow and this time am trying to upgrade. I am planning on using a 600w mh for veg and a 1000w hps for flower hood is being used. (Finally retiring CFL'S :)) Growing in 100% coco. My main questions are how big of an area can 1, 1000w hps cover. I'm thinking a 6x6 or 7x7. The goal is 7-9 plants but unsure of how big the pots must be. Also, I need to calculate ventilation. I am unsure of the size of fans and carbon filters needed. Some experienced growers holla at me! Thanks!

I'm not super experienced on big grows but a 1000w HPS can cover a good sized area depending on hood and height from plants. 5x5, is good, 6x6 is stretching it. I have my 1000 in a 4x4
Pot size depends on veg time, for big plants 7 g is good, 5g is enough. Bigger the roots, bigger the fruits
1 6" carbon filter should be good, and I would say oversize your exhaust fan and use a variable dimmer to reduce it down to what you need. That way if you ever upgrade again, or you add more light, or just want to lower Temps more, you can turn the fan up instead of needing to buy a new one. I have a 720 cfm 8" on my 4x4X7 tent, which is way oversized, I keep it on low/ med low setting and it's plenty
