A tragedy and now somebody has some splainin to do.

And this all started because one person was run over a while ago...

Perhaps the bridge was from IKEA. They cost a little less, but you have to put them together yourself. I usually have a few parts left over at the end of construction of their products...

Thas what happens when you go with the lowest bid or the fastest builders.

Building with REAL quality takes time and money.

Most people nowadays dont realize how shoddy some of the buildings they are in are put together to save time and make the contractor more money .

It wasn't even open for pedestrian travel yet, just put up a couple days ago?

Our family’s thoughts and prayers go out to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy. The new UniversityCity Bridge, which was under construction, experienced a catastrophic collapse causing injuries and loss of life. MCM is a family business and we are all devastated and doing everything we can to assist. We will conduct a full investigation to determine exactly what went wrong and will cooperate with investigators on scene in every way.

The Builders were reportedly doing stress-tests on it (in the middle of Rush Hour) when it collapsed. Sounds like a bright bunch

I would like to have 10 minutes in a closed room with the civil engineer that signed off those blueprints, just 10 minutes.

Sometimes you dont have a choice but they should have tried to redicect traffic.

Construction rarely waits on people lol

Its funny in my town we worked on a college bridge not over traffic.

But i thought it was funny that my company purposely modified structural clips because it was easier and cheaper .

I no longer work there and i hope someone could stop shit like that .



The problem is that the inspectors are buddies with the builders they all hangout .

So some shit gets "passed" when it really shouldnt .

Its why i dont stay working long cause im the guy that is always questioning if something is right . Cause i was trained to do work correctly as possible .

Court documents show that MCM, or Munilla Construction Management, was accused of substandard work in a lawsuit filed earlier this month. The suit said a worker at Fort Lauderdale International Airport, where the company is working on an expansion, fell and injured himself when a makeshift bridge MCM built collapsed under the worker’s weight.

The suit charged the company with employing “incompetent, inexperienced, unskilled or careless employees” at the job site.

Engineers at my old company would just say "It worked in the computer model, must have been worker error." Because computers are infallible.

Who the fuck builds a 900-tonne pedestrian bridge?
