New to cloning need some advice

You can put them directly into dirt without powder or gel, but I would spend the few bucks for some gel or powder, especially if you are new to this . I start mine in rapid rooters in a domed tray. If you are going to sell them, I would start them in rooters or rockwool cubes...much easier and less messy than the soil.

i wouldn't take clones off of those for another week or two, let them get about half again as big as they are before you start cutting.
if you want the branch you cut to keep growing, leave the lowest node with leaves and it'll start growing a new branch after a few days.
if you want a good product, try clonex gel. i've used several, its the best one i've found so far. slightly more expensive than some of the others, but i think its worth a couple more dollars for a product that works

never take clones off a seed ling less than 5 weeks old,, its not geneticly mature,, you wont get all the plant can be until its mature,, i veg all seedlings 6 weeks minimum,, clones are different, the clone is the genetic age of the plant it was taken from.. so if u take clones off a 6 week old mother once its rooted u can take clones as soon as u want as its geneticly mature... i cloned under domes for many years w/ great success,, but i would recomend the clone king to anybody new to cloning,, the clone king roots plants in half the time it takes in a dome,, no misting, no maintinance, cut, dip, trim leaves, put in clone collars, insert, leave alone for 7- 10 days 100% success every time...after using the clone king,, i would never go back to dome trays,, plants root faster so less stress, more vigor, once rooted and put in pots or rock wool, medium, roots establish quick,, you can see when the plants have established roots, once rooted they grow very quickly..

For clone, I just get a red solo cup with perlite (wash the perlite good). I dip mine in some Home Depot-bought rooting powder. Worked 100% so far. Water when it seems kinda dry. Idk but this method seemed to work really good. I get good root structure going on after like 2 weeks. ***Put a hole like 3/4 an inch from the base of the cup for the water to run out. My temps are like 88-95 degrees F. and humidity is lik 75-90 where I live, so I do not do anything special with them
(Still have yet to try rockwool which a lot of people prefer, but I do like my results from just a cup with perlite)

i remember my first clone,, i was growing in a closet w/ an emily's garden, 6 plant container w/ a air stone, each pot had holes in the bottom and were filled w/ clay rocks, w/ a strip of felt to bring moisture from the bottom to the top were there was a 1inch rock wool cube.. under a small 150watt hps.. i knew little about growing, but was sick of all weed being mexican brick.. i wanted nice full bud not pressed so thought id give growingt a try.. anyways one day i cut a branch off,, it was blocking light to other branches.. i didnt throw it away,, i had a dixie cup filled w/ nute mix water,, i put a layer of clear plastic wrap over the top and poked the branch threw.. then i put it to the side and just left it,, i was expecting to see it wilt n die but to my astonishment after a few weeks it was perky and had roots!!! now that was back in 1990,, i was lucky my dad was cool and let me grow in my closet and even helped me plant a few in the back yard,, they grew huge,, but i never got to finish them,, wile on summer vacation somebody tore all the plants in my yard,, but the weed in my closet turned out to be some of the best smoke my friends and i ever had,, it was seed from a bag of killer,, we called it puertorican ass bud because my buddy chico who was porterican put the bag in his back pocket,, it was funny as hell but i guess u had to be there...

I was looking around for a better way to make clones (after a few lacklustre results) and I read this post. I was impressed and got down to the supermarket for some cheap plastic cups and followed this recipe exactly.
Here are the results after a week. I'm really impressed, so thanks for the tip.
My question is, when can I transplant them or start to feed some nutes? I've really got no idea from here :/

i'd wait till they had at least 2 inches of roots before you pot them. those are actually adult plants, so you can start feeding them as soon as they have roots to pick it up, whatever strength you were feeding momma

Thanks Rog.
That sounds about right, but is there no easy way to tell other than turfing them out of the pot?
I guess I'll just tip one out and have a look-see.

I hope you get the same results I did with that perlite in a cup cloning way. Just some key notes: where I live I get 85-97% Humidity naturally so I do not use any domes or those clone tray things with a heater.
I leave it out in the open with a cfl just over it like 4-6 inches away. My temps range from 85-90 F
I only aircon my plants when I flower.
PEACE :)

That was the best tip ever. It's pretty cold here, so I've had that heat pad on non-stop. There was a dome over them for the first couple of days but I hardened them off pretty quick and now, they are doing quite well at about 65% RH.

I had the same EXACT system from Hydrofarm. Even had the little xmas tree "fountain". Which was a little holder tbat held an upside down 2 liter soda bottle full of solution that kept the Emilys tray at 2 inches of water. And a hydrofarm sunburst 175 watt halide. Lol. Brings back memories. I grew some little bushes with that system. Damn
