Newb question - male vs. female

I just put my plants into flower a few days ago. Every day I go in and try to see signs of preflowers. I have taken the scope to what look like preflowers and I've seen the beginning of trichomes.

Here's my dumb question....do male plants create trichomes? Could that be an indicator? ....or.....do they all create trichomes?

can't get pics of the trichs since it's through the scope. I just posted a recent pic of my plants yesterday in my grow journal in my sig, but they're not relevant to my question.
