*Newbie* Indoor Organic LED Grow

Hey folks... gotta dilemma. I think I'm stressing the girls out. The caretaker feed twice this week and watered out of schedule - right after last weeks LED mod and WATT increase. I trimmed a few leaves and noticed some spotting. (They were raised by CFL, switched to 2 COBs@100W for 10 days@26", then mod'd to 4 COBs@250W.) I've been also lowering lights closer. (21" now) (I know I'm asking for trouble .) The spotting has me worried. Would nutes spilled on leaves cause spotting if not rinsed off? I should be only feeding once a week? Or are the COBs gonna cause so much more photosynthesis that I am seeing a deficiency issue and need more nutes? This is before I trimmed and they looked happy, but they definitely didn't like me taking a few leaves off each.View attachment 3850039
I think when the soil dries, I will flush them a bit at next watering and see if they improve. I would love NOT to F-up my first grow :weed:
Am I thinking right? Suggestions are appreciated ;-)
Oh, wow. They should be fine, though. Give them a few days to dry out?

Update Veg Day 46

Hey guys, sorry its been so long since the last update. I've been super busy lately and I finally had a chance get over and see how she's doing today.

I transplanted her to the 5gallon pot this past Sunday. I filled the bottom half with organic super soil and the rest with normal potting soil. I also added a layer of hydroten pebbles to keep the surface of the soil level after I water (Prevents ruts).

I have the MH light running at 100% (full 600w). I have the hood set 18" from the canopy of the plant. I also added a speed controller to the vent fan. The whole setup is clean seems to be running well.

Today I noticed that most of the leaves were drooping and the bottom fan leaves turned completely yellow. I watered her a good bit immediately after the transplant this past Sunday. The caretaker also watered her during the week. She was most likely over watered and definitely shows signs of it. I removed the yellow fan leaves today.

My next step is to set the scrog.

Its been 5 days since the transplant and I decided to continue with the LST. I spread out the 4 main tops equally apart into a (+) pattern. I'm hoping they will continue to grow and each of their branches will shoot up and become a main. I am trying to do everything as equal as I can so I could have a consistent and level canopy.

After I spread the 2 main stems apart for LST, the main stem split right where I topped her first. The split travels down the main stem about 1". I was pretty bummed out that this happened. I know this isn't good for her but I think she can fight through it and heal herself. I tied the split shut with some string. I'm sure after a week or so, shell be even better.

I have a pretty good idea about how I am going to do this scrog. I'll make a simple PVC fame (30"x30") and suspend it from the light racks. This way I will always be able to adjust the height. I'm thinking I'll make the squares 3"x3", seems like a good size as I don't want them to be too small.

My plan is to install the scrog this Sunday. The plant will have a few days to dry out, heal up and continue its rootgrowth. If she is happy on Sunday I will top her one last time. I will spread all the new growth through the scrog for the next 1-2 weeks.

After I can fill the scrog and really max out her veg phase, I will switch to 12/12. Everything has been going great so far and I am happy to say that shes made it half way and has remained very healthy the entire time!

Enjoy the pics!

Update Veg Day 49

Hey guys, quick little update on the girl. She's healing nicely and starting to fill out. The leaves are still a bit droopy but they are better. Everything is green.

Today, I topped her a bunch. I'd guess I plucked at least 12-15 tops. Also, I am beginning to see some new vertical growth off of the 4 main branches that I LST'd down. I think it's a bit too early to install the scrog.

I would like to top all of the new growth coming off the main branches sometime this week. After I top all the new growth, I'm going to let her heal and veg for another week or two.

I want to make sure that I veg. long enough in order to fill the entire scrog. I understand that shes gonna stretch a lot after I make the switch to 12/12. From your experience, any idea how much longer I should veg.? The last thing I want is to veg. for to long and outgrow my space.

Thanks for the help, Here are a few pics from today!

Update Veg Day 51

Quick little update on the girl. Got the scrog built and installed. I am using 3x3" squares and the height is fully adjustable.

The girl is getting big and starting to fill in. She measures about 23" side to side and 13" in height.

On a side note, the humidity has been very low. I'm talking 16% avg and maybe 20% on a good day. I've added a bowl of water in front of a fan and under the light inside the tent. Hoping this will bring it up a bit, I have noticed slower growth over the past week or two.

I am leaving town for 2 weeks on Saturday. I have a caretaker that will water her and continue to tuck and scrog the plant until I get back. Looks like she will have another 2 full weeks of veg. I will flip to 12/12 when I return. I hope she won't grow out her space.

Here are some pics...

An update on my end. The Ww seems to have adjusted to the 5Gal and has taken off! I think the Pineapple's may not bloom though. Next time - air pots . I have been subtracting 2hrs of light every 2 days and will be on 12/12 this weekend. (Another one of THOSE topics - gradually or sudden switch - LOL)
Peace:leaf:

Update Veg Day 70 (Week 10)

Hey guys, been awhile but I'm finally back and on top of things again. I was away the past two weeks and my caretaker was having some watering and environment issues. The plant has not made much new growth but the good news is she's still alive and seems to be okay, just a bit stressed.

I was able to check up on her yesterday. She was extremely droopy at one point over the past 2 weeks. Her tops seem healthy although I can see she was showing signs of under watering and low humidity. Many of the large fan leaves shriveled up to nothing. Some fan leaves are showing bad yellowing originating from the tips. Her stems are strong and tops are very green. She will survive :)

I would like to get her into flower ASAP. I am thinking I'll give her about 5 days until I make the flip. I want to get her vitals back up and find a balanced water schedule. I also added a humidifier to increase the RH.

I've been vegging longer than I had planned but this is my first grow and I have learned many things. Next step is to get her healthy and growing again. I will continue the scrog and get her into flower ASAP!

..With respect, bro, that looks nowhere near 10 weeks. What light are you using?

Update Veg Day 75

Hey guys, it's been 5 days since I last updated and I have been able to nurse and bring her back back to life. Over the past 5 days, she has been on a very balanced water schedule, I've also been able to get the humidity up to and around 35%. Temperature stays in the mid 80's lights on with a high of 95, I increased my vent fan speed today to compensate.

When would you make the flip to flower? At this point, she is mature enough for 12/12 and I know she will stretch. I would really like to max out my yield with her, I want to make sure she will fill the net. I am very meticulous each and every time I tuck through the scrog. I anticipate where each branch will go and every top will end up :)

I still have a few branches tied down from the LST. I was hoping the new tops starting from the main branches that are held down would stretch up and fill in the net by now. Should I release the branches tied down and let it all grow out while I continue tucking?

Can spraying the tent or plant with water once a day help with the low humidity and high heat problems at all? I've read that it is not good for water to sit on the leaves while under direct light. Let me know your thoughts on this.

As you can see, she is coming along nicely. I have the scrog set 8" from the top of the soil. With the light raised, I have 32" down to the scrog. This leaves me with about 2ft of growing space and 10" of clearance or so.

In your opinion, is this plant ready to start flowering? Can I fill the scrog? Should I give her an extra week?
Thanks again everyone for all your help!

Lol no worries, you're not the only one! It's strange but it has all been documented from the start. The last 3 weeks, she was stressed out for a lot of reasons. She did not make ANY new growth. I have seen more growth over the past 5 days than she has made in 3 weeks. Its like shes back to normal and vegging strong again!

How long does the stretch last once she transitions over to flower? I am getting anxious and would like to flip her soon but I want to make sure I do it at the right time.

Thanks!

I would give her a few days of sustained growth and flip. Given her age, she probably has more growth in the roots than above soil. I had PH issues with one of my plants again after my switch to 12/12. Same one as usual.
Lost some leaves and stunted her growth, but all is well again. Buds are developing:weed:

Update Veg Day 79

All is back to normal and she is vegging strong once again! I'm also starting to get the hang of tucking and scroging. She really blew up over the past 4 days! I am noticing so many new tops that will grow out when I switch over to 12/12.

Here are some pics from today, gonna give her a few more days to veg. and fill out more. I plan to make the flip soon and have her transitioned into flower by Sunday. Stay tuned :bigjoint:

Update time!

This thread has been way overdue for an update. Not much has happened since the last update, I decided to let her veg. longer and fill up the scrog before I make the flip. I now understand why people choose to grow 4-6 pots in a space like mine, I really underestimated the veg. in order to fill this entire tent.

She has been super healthy the last few weeks. The past few days, I have noticed many yellowing leaves. The tops are very yellow and the stems/leaves are droopy, the growth has slowed as well. At first I thought this might be a N toxicity. I think it may just be the watering schedule. I will water a bit less although I am still trying to sort this out before the flip next week.

Please check out the attached close-ups and let me know if you have any idea what this problem might be.

Here's a pic from today :). At this rate she needs another week before the flip. I'll plan for next Sunday!

Back again for round two. Learned a lot first time round. My PEX came out great, but light on yield due to problems with containers being too small and transplanting 3 times . The Widow was horrible due to PH issues. Growing two different strains at once using same nutes/PH turned out badly. So the '*Newbie* Indoor Organic LED Grow' continues with my second attempt...

Germinated in towel -> to a 6" pot filled with 50/50 mix of FFOF & FF seed starting soil until 5th set of leaves and topped -> transplanted to 5gal Air pots filled with FFOF soil 10 days after recovery from topping & moved to LED (from Flouro) & new tent - not shower  -> Waited a few days for transplant shock - if any & topped again..waited 10 days and went to bloom. Feeding following GH GoBox & keeping PH @7 (FFOF is rated 6.2-6.8 and the White Widow hated the low 6's water/nutes before, but the PEX didn't mindo_O)

This is 3 weeks into bloom :weed:

Looks good to me ;)
