Newbie Lowryder issue

Hi folks,

I'm new here on the forum and you can call me Omni. :) I've never grown mj before but decided to give it a go. My choice fell on Lowryder as being a bit limited with space and coin.

Now, my question is:
...as being a poor hippie i've been feeding my two beautiful sprouts with 300W dual spectral CFL light on a 24/0 cycle for a week now, partly because my compartment isn't totally light tight, but also because i've been broke to such degree that i couldn't even afford a timer.. until today.
So, after reading grow guides on LR and taken notice that they should be fed with light on a 18/6 cycle from the start, i now wonder what kind of impact a 24/0 cycle will have, as LR is autoflowering? Plus, if i start a 18/6 cycle tonight, how dark has the compartment to be? Pitch black?
Another wonder i have, how well will they do in a quite cold environment as my room temperature is well below 70 F.

Hope any of you pro's out there can help me?
Thnx

Here's a pic of them. Quite cute huh? :)

I did the same thing with my lrak's-started em at 24/7 light, then once I saw the pre-flowers switched to 20/4. Don't worry, switching the light isn't gonna hurt ur lowryders, but once they show signs of flowering it'd be best to change to either 18/6 or 20/4 and yes, u want it PITCH BLACK when the lights are off so i'd work on ur light leaks befrore switching the lights.

I have grown plenty of auto strains and fucked with the light dark cycle plenty, never a problem just keep the light on 18+ for max yields and you will be good. Auto flower strains don't seem as picky in those respects as non auto strains.

i agree with everyone! i have been reading lately that lowryder prefers higher temps! so i'd try to get that temp up if ya want bigger yields. good luck

hello omni. seems we have a lot in common :) i too am i poor hippie, and im growing basically the same plant! i have three though and mine are a little bit older. i would be interested in keeping up to date with you. that way we've just doubled our experiment!
anyways, if youre not wanting to do that, thats alright.

my setup is 6 5700k 26watt cfls inside of a cardboard box, in a closet. i did the same thing, i had them on 24 hour light for about a week, now i have swtiched, the plants didnt seem affected at all. i also have my plants upstairs, where its colder, and my plants are doing great. i dont thnk the cold really bothers them. i live in low income housing and dont really keep my heat up too high, and when i come downstairs im usually relieved at the warmth. i usually have the door leading up there closed because it makes my whole house colder. my plants have been doing great now for 22 days. though when the lights are on, its always nice in the closet, i usually close the door behind me because its nice and warm in there.

here is mine, two of them are smaller, but the first born is pretty big.

they look alot alike eh?

Thanks everyone :)
johnwashburnx30: Aw how sweet! :) you just want to smoke'em straight away, don't you?!! Yeah, that would be cool to compare data as we go. I have a house on my own and can't afford warming it to normal room temp, i.e. 70 F. But as LR is said to do fairly well even in low temps (mentioned in the product documentation :D ) it was an obvious choice for me as newbie.
Keep in touch!

yeah i got these seeds from a friend's mom, shes been growing for years. I've been growing for a while but nothing serious, me and a buddy used to just plant some seeds in a bush during the summers, and then go take care of it when we could. as a kid i would always try to grow it in my room, or even once on the doorstep, of course my parents took care of that before it got too big haha. then i moved to the city and never really had time to grow more. it was my main hobby before. i have only grown one yielding crop before this though. it was some sort of purple indica. then i lived in the city for two years, and didnt have the opportunity due to room mates and stuff. now i live alone, and am loving it. kind of pisses me off though, i had a 3 year gap there, this should be my 5th yielding crop. but oh well, life takes different roads.

i just checked on my babies when i woke up, its crasy to see the growth overnight, i mean it isnt that much, but you can def see it.
