Newbie question(s) about CFL lightning.

After studying very carefully all the light options I have that are within my budget and that will work for my 100cmx100cmx200cm tent I have come up with certainly starting with some CFL lights so that I can already start the grow. After that I will choose between building a quantum board with a DIY kit or buying MH lights followed by a HPS light like most growing books and shops advise (probably because QB seem to be pretty new technology). The question is if I grow 2-4 plants, meaning 2 to 4 seedlings, how many watts would I need with CFL lights?

TL;DR How much watt do I need per plant when it comes to CFL lights?

Thanks in advance, this community has been the best so far when it comes to helping out!

I start seedlings with a single 23 watt cfl in daylight white in a cheap clip on reflector per seedling for the first week or two. If you're trying to get veg with cfl just go ahead and get a t5ho unit that closest fills your footprint. However if you intend to eventually get mh/hps combo just go ahead and get it now. No reason to use an expensive inefficient t5 unit if you're going to hid.

Especially if you're just going to get an Apollo combo with lamps from Amazon. A 600 combo is going to be ample for your full run and it's like maybe 160 bucks. You won't even get a couple hood drivers for your qb at that price

I would. If you can handle the heat and use an air cooled hoods there is no reason to mess around. Things get moving a few weeks in and you'd rather not be still setting stuff up. At least that's my opinion

So go ahead and buy 600W MH and 600W HPS? Sorry I've been getting back into getting my first grow and it seems like a lot about lightning has changed...

With the results I have seen with some of the new led tech that' out now I would look into led as well. Upfront is an expense yes but if you buy a GOOD led it will pay you back down the road. I can not wait to see what the next couple years bring to led lighting. I really feel this is the future and worth the upfront cost. But if on a budget not one person can argue that hps/mh will fit the bill MUCH better than cfl. Having said that I have grown beatiful buds under all cfl lighting and been very happy with the results.. it' up to you what way you go lol....

I was looking into buying a QB DIY kit but it's out of my budget. So I'm thinking of starting with CFL then 600W MH followed by 600W HPS for a 100cmx100cmx200cm tent. But I don't know much about CFL or lights in general. Plus I'm in Europe so a lot of the information given by @SmokeyMcChokey , while helpful, most of the time don't apply to me.

Ahh uk.
This would be nice for a 3'x3'

Or maybe hps

I would get either the parabolic hood if you have good room temp control. Otherwise that black air cooled hood

For your cfl get something like this. Except in a daylight white color temp. Or closer to 6500 kelvin.

Any lamp holder will work. Here in the states we have some for utility that are like a silver metal bowl with spring clips on them for hooking the light onto wood or something

Thanks, but both those lights (not the CFL lights) are out of my budget atm. Maybe next year. So I've looked around and found a composition of CFL combined with HPS for about 100 and something euros, but I have also found (https://www.amazon.de/Pflanzenlampe-Roleadro-Wachstumslampe-Zimmerpflanzen-Gewächshaus/dp/B00ROTTOE8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1521145449&sr=8-2&keywords=Galaxyhydro&dpID=51XE5YbG8KL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch) these Galaxyhyrdo lights under the brand name Roleadro. What's your opinion on them?
Thanks btw for all the help.

I have never owned an led. And if I were to own one I would likely only diy a cob setup. Sorry I couldn't be of much help.

If your starting from CFL you are looking for 6500K (Color temperature) Daylight bulbs.
If you can find 42Watt thats great, but likely you will find packs of the 23-26watt ones. they will work just fine too. just may need more of them.
Ive done many CFL grows in my infancy right to finish with success. Just remember...the CFL has little light penetration, so they need to be kept 2 to 6 inches away from the tops at all times to avoid stretching.
