Hi, I just got my patient's license, but don't really know where, how.... I am presently without meds, or a plan to find any. I went to Dr Sulak's office and they were most helpful, but I still have quite a few questions.

I am very impoverished, as I lost my job recently, so I'm sure this will stand in my way(at least initially). I collect unemployment, but it just barely covers my responsibilities.

I live in the L/A area. Could someone help point me in the right direction? Should I go to a dispensary? Should I seek a caregiver? Should I attempt to grow my own meds?

I really have to try to make plans to do what is the most cost-effective solution. Being a newb is difficult and especially, a newb with very limited financial resources.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, nothing? Did I say something in my very first post to offend someone? Just trying to figure out this system and the NP I saw yesterday told me this would be a good place to get pointed in the right direction. Go figure.

Its a tough question to answer... If ur broke u can't really buy meds or grow equipment. dispensaries charge quite a bit. get some seeds and start with cfl lights. read read read! All info is available on this sight.

Thanks Gents!

CFL bulbs or tube-type? What do you suggest for wattage? Also, how many lights per-plant do you think I'd need?

Space is definitely not a problem for me. I also have access to plywood, nails... to construct a small growing area.

I visited a local dispensary today. Wow, that's not cheap! I spoke to a friend that is also a patient who claims he has had a caretaker for nearly two years and hasn't paid a penny(this guy makes more money than I do). Does this sound real? From what I've gathered, caretakers do charge patients for meds, but not the exorbitant amount a dispensary does.

I would like to explore using a caretaker, as well as attempting to learn to be a better horticulturist(or one at all, as far as that goes).

I, again, appreciate any guidance and assistance. I also welcome any comments that could educate me.

Thank you

For a really tight budget get some CFls for veg and flower 6500k for veg and 2700 around 55 watt spiral ones for flower as far as nutes do soil in cheap miracle grow with a little perlite and in flower use a banana peel tea 4 banana peels boil in 4 cups of water with one table spoon black strap molasses every other week and add worm casting to your teas too yield won't be too great but shouldn't cost much and will get you started we will help you out as it goes😄

I've got some grow equipment I'm not using anymore, and would cut you a good deal if interested. When you are able, PM me and I'll give you information.

I get the feeling some caregivers are using caregiving it as a front, and they make their money on the black market. Those guys are out there, and need a patients to fill out designation form for each six plants they grow. The each patient slot cost $300 per year for the caregiver. If they are giving meds out for free to their patients, they are probably making a bunch of money somewhere else.

Miracle grow will work if u flower from seed or clone. but its not anything I personally would medicate with. I think growing if your not wealthy is a matter of how much money you have and using it the best way you can. if you let us now ur budget we could give u some ideas.the least amount your gonna need to spend is probably 25 bucks but it becomes a money pit if u let it.

Disclaimer. 25 dollar setup will get u some medicine..... but u must adjust ur expectation regarding final pproduct.

For example I invested close to a grand in my outdoor setup this year all said and done but had med worth that from a dispensary off the first two (of 6 plants) plants and much better quality so ...invest a bit + no problems= a return on investment. . So like everyone's saying, with the right direction, you can get a proportionate harvest to what you put into it with a general rule of thumb being the more you invest th better you will do barring any problems or mistakes.

Thanks again for the reponses.

I can spend a couple hundred, I figure, to get started. I'm not really certain, as my income situation has changed recently. I will entertain any guidance, of course.

P.S. Really stupid question- How do you PM someone?

Several ways to send a PM but the easiest is to click on their username on the left side of screen, on one of their posts. A small menu will appear and you click on Private Message.

I think you need a higher post count before you can give or receive PM's. I tried to PM you without success.

NoSwagBag, I think I sent you a PM. At least, I wrote one and attempted to send it. Let me know if you've received it.

Miracle grow would not be my first choice ladies and gents lol.....but it's a cheap media for someone on a really really tight bugdet that works just fine just needs to be flushed before use like any other growing media, add perlite to soil 50/50 and Hydroton or grow rocks on bottom of planter to drain better till run off is clear.
I was giving you the cheapest possible way to grow 6.00-8.00 per bag vs 20+ for others will give more money for more important things like nutes/amendments,lights, fans etc...I would recommend ffof x light warrior starting out and guano teas or currently what I use in soil grows 5 gal ffof 5 gal perlite 5 gal sunleaves chunky coco 5 gal sunleaves fine coco all mixed together evenly and flushed and with every watering/tea ewc.(earth worm castings)
mex bat guano in veg as they get around 8-12 inches I use both mex bat guano x Peruvian seabird guano to transition into flower and in flower add Indonesian bat guano to the tea mix using all 3 in flower 1 week tea 1 week water alternating and home stretch banana peel tea works like overdrive from advanced nutrients full of potassium. If all organic flush is not all that necessary plus it's hard to burn plants organically, once they have strong roots and are about 12 inches tall.
and I also use extras like cal mag plus cause I use ro water can also use dolomite lime for cal mag, dolomite lime will buffer ph in soil as well as provide cal Mag.

hygrozyme, florolicious plus, coco wet wetting agent, to prevent dry spots in soil/media and maximize plant nute uptake, great white ben bacteria from plant success Before transplant into the ffof and every other feeding with your teas also add super thrive, just to name a few great products that are cost effective give great results and last you.
Again need to add perlite to help it breath/drain better esp if you use cheap soil like Scott or miracle grow that mostly uses mulch in the mix instead of perlite which is one of the problems poor drainage and poor amendments also stays to wet.

if you have extra to spend by all means use better media start out seeds in light warrior then transplant into ffof with perlite and use a simple 3 part nute from any manufacturer or best option go with teas I use sun leaves if in soil but there are many other great ones available
ff chem nutes/bottled seems to be not to expensive but I prefer advanced nutrients 3 part with many extras and mostly do dwc not soil but these are some good products I have used in the past. And if you can afford hid lights go for it and veg under t-5's till about 6-12" tall then switch to mh then flower under hps light.
There are many ways to grow and a media is just a base it all depends what you put into it that will get you different results.
Most important thing is keep ph in soil/media around 6.3 not to worry to much at all if doing all organic with dolomite lime keep temps around 65-75 but under 80 degrees and humidity at 40-60 percent and good air circulation also one of the common mistakes is over watering which is why I like adding so much perlite and grow in smart pots more feeding equals faster bigger growth It won't need water/feeding until top 2 inches are dry. Good luck and hope this helps out a bit.

You can make this very affordably. You can use this right from the get go without worrying about cooking it. You can give your soil and plants teas to keep things going strong. I can teach you the teas if you are interested in this. There is nothing like the taste and quality of smoke you get from Living Organic Soil.

1 part organic soil mix (example is Foxfarm Ocean Forest or Foxfarm Lucky Dawg Cube)
1 part earthworm castings
1 part perlite
1 tbs of organic dry fertilizer ( example is Happy Frog All Purpose fert.)

A simple tea to use the whole way from start to finish is: per gallon

1 tbs of organic dry fert
1/3 cup of ewc or fresh compost
1 tbs of molasses
1 tsp of all purpose Peruvian Guano

Bubble 36 hours and dilute 1:3 to start building up to 1:1 in flowering. 1 part tea to 3 parts water, etc.

We can reuse your soil too. The whole process is so easy to get you started. Just offering another way to do things.
