I have no idea about any greenhaired chick on rollitup.....here I'll help rollitup.org....I also never mention the search feature.I mean for you to go read a couple hundred or a thousand threads in various forums and subforums....all the info you need is here, do some work and find it....

Sorry(again) mdanforth, Ringsixty had left a link to a site called "grow weed easy". I have learned very much from that site, and the person who set it up is a lady that, I'm sure, wears a electric-green colored wig for anonymity and hides her face behind plants and such. Thank you for all of your help.

Instead of using RIU's search engine try typing your question into google/bing/etc... and add "RIU" - most of the hits will come right back here & it works much better.

From what I've read and people I talked to that (used) LEDs they are great for veg but when it comes to flower hid is the way to go and for the cost t'5s are more practical and cost effective per month and cover more space for the most part everyone I know that used then sold them went back to t5's and hid lights

Thanks, Are T5's referring to 4' and 2' sizes?

I found a pack of CFL's here at home, I'm going to get some clamp fixtures for side lights.

Trying to keep moving forward! Thanks to all!

Yeah, the T5s at HTG are 2' and 4'. They probably come in other sizes too.
BTW..many people don't know this. The "T" number of a florescent light refers to the overall width of the bulb. You divide the number by 8 and that is how many inches wide the bulb is. A T5 is 5/8" wide. A T12 is 12/8, or 1-1/2".

Latest update: I've got 8 x 4' T5s and presently have 6 girls of different strains under a 600w MH in the second week of veg. looking real pretty! Hungry/thirsty girls they are! I still need another hood that I will use for flowering with the 600w HPS bulb I bought. I have a buddy that has helped me by doing some house repairs, who is helping build a wall in my basement(with a door and lockset for privacy and discretion). So, I will have two 600w HIDs for veg and flower, and the T5s for the little ones. I've been using Fox Farm OF soil mixed 50/50 with Pro Mix and the FF line of nutrients. I also have a bag of Black Gold soil for seedlings/clones.

I guess, as many have stated, you really can't get a decent product without putting a little money into your gardening. I figure I've spent around $600-$700 so far and probably will dump another $300 plus or minus into this endeavor. So, thinking back to when someone said "I spent 1K..." and I gasped. That really isn't a big expenditure for what you will get from it. You get what you pay for, right? The funny thing is, Im still mostly without meds. I've had a bit here and there, but, I'm sure, not what I will have come harvest time! Whatever...

I thank this forum and the gents here for the guidance! Especially tet1953!! Dude, you've been very patient, dealing with my amateurish questions!

Welcome sternman! I agree, this is a very informative place. I'm just a toddler to this stuff, but with some help and guidance, I'm feeling better about it. It is a lot to digest, so I take notes.

Update:

My 6 plants are in their third day of flower. This is very cool and I'm really enjoying the work that goes into it. Yeah, I really like spending time in my grow room, making improvements. Money is very short, but with a little Macgyver-ing, I can repurpose things I already have. I also have 8 clones in a bucket-cloner(Trainwreck, Green Crack, Afrodite, and Pineapple Express-two of each) under 4 x 4' T-5s.

I have a question. If you clone plants, does it genetically, in some way, decrease the strength/potency of the meds?

Many thanks to tet1953!!

As long as you are taking clones from a healthy plant everytime it should not effect anything. I have noticed that clones from a plant started from seed usually yield better then the mother. most breeders wait until they have flowered a clone to see if the strain is a keeper

I get the feeling some caregivers are using caregiving it as a front, and they make their money on the black market. Those guys are out there, and need a patients to fill out designation form for each six plants they grow. The each patient slot cost $300 per year for the caregiver. If they are giving meds out for free to their patients, they are probably making a bunch of money somewhere else.

And other times, a caregiver is smart enough to have a few patience who are able to pay top dollar for top quality meds, allowing the less fortunate to receive the trickle down. Do you understand how that works?

Here I can simplify it.. Grow many different strains, find savvy patience who love rare dank herbs, and aren't to cheap to pay for the effort that goes into it.
Get three of those guys.
Then you go out and find a patient or two who is of good character and adds some sort of value to their community and those around them, but has little /to no money or means of financial support. And Give to them.
That's how this shit works people. If you don't understand now, then you won't.
It's not how many people you can touch, it's the quality in that caress that counts.

I have a couple of one type of patient and one of the other type. Works out good for everybody.
And everybody gets free meds this time of year lol
