Newbie w/New Aero Setup

9 net aero tank with a magnetic pump always on spraying around 900 ppm solution with water hovering about 73F and air between 75 to 80 it's been almost a week and they are growing extremely slow I'm not sure if it was due ot a long seed period in a tiny humidity dome that has stunted growth...I checked the roots last night and they are just starting to show through the bottoms of the nets oh hmm using an hps 400w light w/reflector PH is about 6

I'm not sure why they are growing less than 1/2 cm a day on average when almost all other claims are atleast an inch a day I'm trying to find reasons for poor performance

Questions...

1. Is it a problem to continuously mist the plants in an aero setup...the pump is designed for this purpose and is very cheap to run 24/7 so I don't wanna go buy an interval timer unless it's necessary Does it stunt growth to have the misting spray running all the time? I'm trying to experiment by manually shutting it off to see if that helps em perk up

2. Could the light be too far? the light is making the plants warm but reasonable and there are no signs of heat burn it is 6 inches a way at this point

3. Does PH change stop growth? the ph has fluctuated a decent amount since I've been learning as I go does that affect growth it's stayed within the limits of 4-8

4. When moving from the humidity dome to aero some of the roots were entangled and subsequently torn or cut...all plants have shown growth since as well as root production...the shock from the move shouldn't come back after a good night of growth seemed to occur so I'm stumped here too

The plants are showing hair growth at the bracts but it's too early to tell from male/female...should I just flush the system and go to 12/12 or will small plants with 2-4 branch sites each not work very well?

I have a tendancy to ramble so please ask specifics about setup for more info any help will be much appreciated especially from someone with experience in aero and working knowledge of symptom cures

after a ton of reading I resigned to just changing out the water and only putting in a tiny amount of food 1 teaspoon for 5 gallons I'm hoping this will leave me under 300ppm...the hydro shop guy said 1k and up but after close examination it did look like they were experiencing some yellowing/wilt

I figured if the plant only drank a little water it would only get a little nutrient hopefully this will jumpstart em

not sure how long it takes but if this doesn't work I'm stumped

A rez change is always the first thing to do when there's a problem.

Run your misters constantly.
Your light is too close. Raise it to 15-20 inches.
Keep the pH between 5.6 and 6.2
Increase your nute strength as they get bigger.
For the first week of growth, they are doing just fine.

HTH

ahhh I finally figured it out apparently the smaller the drop size the less ppm you need...nute nuked the plants so fast actually they didn't even have time to die if anyone wants to know how I figured this out or a reliable source for accurate information since I've just read the free worlds collective efforts lemme know

Hi,
I'm just starting out and was impressed with your problem resolution.
I am still in the decision making stage for grow methods and equipment.
Any hints you could provide for aeroponics would help greatly.
Could you pass on how you figured it out and the "reliable source for accurate information" ?
Thanks Very Much
