NL5 x Haze - a question of smell

A question for those that have grown the Sensi Seeds version. Did you plants STINK ..i mean carbon filter running, tent closed and room door sealed, Ona gel strategically position outside room STINK?

This (skunk) smell pervaded through two layers of carpet, the under carpet, the floorboards and through the roof of the room below the grow room (inside which i had the grow tent). It then spread through the whole 6 story house and i could smell it 15 ft outside the front door! It smelt stronger then cheese strains (which i don't grow due to 'that' smell).
Thankfully my nl5xhaze only got this strong at the end of flower (last 2 weeks or so). However it put me off growing it as i literally could not contain the smell in a grow tent+room (i would have needed a sealed concrete room for those bad girls!) ...oh, i was only growing THREE plants. Gowd only knows what the smell would have been like with more :)

fyi - grown this strain a couple of times (due to it's legendary status) but never found a good tasting pheno ..even with that crazy smell in flower the dried/cured taste was 'meh' with the plants I grew (the high was nice though). Still have one fem seed but past experience put me off. So, how have others found the smell of this strain?

Always found it to be a spicy strain that has a pretty good high, good medical strain from my experience

You couldn't control the smell of 3 plants?
I know right :)
I've grown nine plants at the same time (various strains) in that same space and the carbon filer (etc) stopped that smell cold. However, these plants were two clones and the mother (i kept a top bud cut from the mother in veg) so they had the same profile i'm guessing ..and that was to create the most hard to scrub smell i've ever encountered lol (just a fluke i'm guessing - as no-ones saying the strain is over stinky). If i had an industrial setup (inc. carbon filter+ozone gen) no probs. The 5 inch extract fan/carbon filter setup i had just didn't get to enough of the smell before it clawed its way out the tent and into the local community. Also the bloom time was wayyy too long for the end result.

Thanks for the info.
I figured i just had an odd pheno. People do seem to review it highly online. I might pop that last seed then and give the strain a chance to impress (although single seeds are a real stab in the dark :)
Growing some old 1993(approx.) skunk at the mo so my focus is there. It has my interest due to a first 'test' grow it seemed to finish in 6 weeks (7 and I had more red triches then anything). I'm doing a full scrog grow with it now (want to see how early it finishes and how it tastes each week). I figure its skunk#1 or a hybrid of that strain bought back in the early 90's. I also happened upon 5 regular durban poison seeds (from the late 80's) but no luck sprouting those. I wanted to cross this older durban with something else ..alas it was not to be.

a couple. That could of been part of it i guess but the filter seemed ok next run (that strain wasn't so strong though). When i run it next i'll make it the first run with a fresh filter :)

You are pussies, I ran 90 cheese (which is a skink derivative) in my house this run, with no filter.

My neighbor on the one side is an ex-police detective, and on the other side is a jail warden.

It just doesn't smell like the local landraces they mostly encounter. Actually, it smells nothing like weed to me, but I have maybe 20 to 30% of my sense of smell left.

I dunno... I think your filter must be pooched. I've grown Northern Lights many many many times I never had a problem with smell. I usually grow about 8 plants at a time the generally yield about 5 to 6 oz. So if that doesn't cause a stink I don't know what will... never had a problem as long as the filters good
