First time poster from being a lurker for 6+ months. This is technically my 3rd attempt overall. 1st being a soil grow outside. I got them from a dispensary near where I live and everything started well. That is, until I was over zealous and nuted the poor babies to death during (very discouraging that i couldnt even get a weed to the flowering stage
).
The 2nd grow was intended to be 3 mother plants but the equinox hit before I thought better of it. I was unable to get them out of flowering mode.
3rd and current grow is in the 3rd week of flowering. I scored a 600w MiHid/HPS ballast system with tent for a steal on craigslist. Im also using a cheapo DWC kit i got from OSH. My 2nd attempt will to change out the dwc system with a custom built one that has a bigger tank (only holds 3-1/2 gallons well) and easier on the back

I didnt think I would get to this point so I never bothered journaling my progress. Now I guess I might see the end so ill write weekly with my lil babies and hopefully get some expertise to some questions in the process.
Background for this grow:
Started out as clones from clones from the 2nd grow. These are 3 grand daddy purps and 3 purp kushes plants. I used regular rockwoll with a clone powder and clonex solution to maintain moisture. I used clear plastic party cups over them in combination with plastic bowls for the base. These were kept under d12 lights until roots came through (about 14 days).
I moved them to the current dwc system which uses the hyrdoton rocks for the medium and i used the gro solution that came with it. This system has 2 airstones at either end and I maintained a 20 hour on/4 off light cycle.
I just followed the growth chart on the back of the bottle for about 3 weeks. This turned out to be incredibly incorrect because although it grew fast for about a week, it then stayed at around 9-10 inches tall for two weeks. I couldn't find a solution online here at the time. The 600w lights were working well (i assumed) and the airstones seemed to be putting enough bubbles in the water. I figured it was food. I went to the local hydro store and picked up the assortment of floragro, floranova, and some liquid ph adjusters.
This jump started the grow back in gear. The change in growth was dramatic. It was now acting like a weed! However, every week or so I would get really burned leaves (about 2-3 per plant). I then invested in ppm meter for better accuracy since i could'nt tell how hard i was hitting them. I remember i was putting something like 1.6k in a typical batch of 3 gallons before the meter. I came down to 800 and it seemed like the plants grew a tad better.
Before i know it, 24 inches comes and I put the plants into 48 hours darkness then onto 12/12 light cycle. I changed to floranova and upped the ppm to 1.2k. I have increased it by 50 each week since then. Todays amount is now 1.3k and I plan on to hold it around here. The plants seem fairly happy but i noticed some yellow leaves and some weird white fungus on the rock wool itself. It doesn't seem to like the plant yet, but i found it weird nonetheless. I also cleared up all the dead leaves on the plants that you will see in the pics btw. If anyone has any info regarding the whtie stuff, that would be fantastic.
Im curious about how to trim the bottom ones for better bud production as well. I cant seem to bring myself to cutting any branches off. I may just do it this way to the end and do it better next time. Im afraid of messing with the plant too much in terms of cutting it.
Oh yeah, how will i tell when I'm a week away from cultivation so i can flush it properly? I know its tricky with growing 2 strains in the same tent (next time I will do one at a time), but im curious on when a good overall time to flush would be and what should I look for. I was planning on the 8th week flush but thats kinda dumb without assessing the plant first.
