Former President Obama has agreed to speak at a Wall Street conference for $400,000, according to a new report.

Obama will appear at Cantor Fitzgerald LP’s healthcare conference in September, Fox Business Network first reported Monday.

Fox Business said it confirmed Obama’s appearance with senior members at Cantor, a financial services firm.

Obama will serve as the keynote speaker for one day at the company's event, sources there told Fox Business.
The network's sources said Obama has signed a contract for the speech with the mid-size investment bank in New York.

Cantor is waiting to coordinate with Obama before making a formal announcement, it continued.

Obama can reportedly back out of the arrangement if scheduling conflicts or other concerns arise, it added.

The former president’s reported speaking fee is nearly twice the price commanded by Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee.

Obama reappeared on the public stage Monday, making his first public remarks since leaving the White House at the future site of his presidential library.

The former president did not mention President Trump or offer political commentary during his appearance at the University of Chicago.

“There’s a reason why I am always optimistic, even when things look like they are sometimes not going the way I want,” he said at a roundtable about youth participation in civic life. “And that’s because of young people like this.”

Obama’s remarks came just days before his successor reaches his 100th day in office.

It's not like it bothers establishment Democrats when they're running for president, see Hillary Clinton's Wall Street bribes
Hillary who? That name just isn't relevant anymore. Your leftist ideas would probably catch on Ill admit... If next election was against anyone other than Trump. Charlie sheen would beat trump in 2020. If our government wasn't on the verge of melt down and we had time to focus on real issues it could happen. The only thing about universal health, school.. all that stuff. What will it mean for our taxes. I myself really don't mind helping out, it won't break me. But for everyone else out there... Taxes are a big thing. You can tax the rich or big corporations heavier, but when they pack up and move over seas the middle class is stuck floating the bill. What would prevent this

Why didn't corporations relocate when the corporate tax rate was measurably much higher than it is now?

You didn't answer my question at all. Taxes will have to jump a lot higher than they ever have for schooling and healthcare for everyone. Much higher than they've ever been. I'd be on board with health care but not schooling. That'll be a huge increase. Professors aren't going to work for the same price as say, an elementary school teacher. Factor in that, housing, maintenance, sports programs and other little things. It's not cheap at all

An income based health care premium paid by employers, an income based premium paid by households, progressive income tax rates; 37% on income between $250K-$500K, 43% on income between $500K-$2 million, 48% on income $2 million-$10 million, 52% on income above $10 million, taxing capital gains and dividends the same as we tax income, limit tax deductions for the wealthy, close the estate tax loophole, savings from health tax expenditures

That's a serious jump in taxes. But if enough middle class people go for it. It could be a thing. You already know red States will vote against their best interest. And I don't think millennials will override an election. But I've seen crazier things happen

Every other modern nation on Earth has one form of universal healthcare or another. There are no excuses left why we can't do it too.
