Look, alllllllllllll im saying is, you can get great results with 1/4 the price, and without making all this shit more scientific then it needs to be. Isnt it about spectrum and intensity? YES, it is. Spectrum is there, and intensity, although is shit with my crap setup, 95,000 lumens WILL kick ass, at 4000k spectrum, a 3rd of the price. And for those that dont know, the Green spectrum increase CO2 uptake

I like them. There's been an 860/1000W ceramic metal halide lamp out for quite some time now. I strongly recommend running it on a square wave ballast- assuming you can find one, of course.

Frankly, don't waste your time. LED is a better tech; less maintenance, far more efficient, no lamp replacements, better spectrum and not only are they cheaper over time in terms of all these savings, but they're fast approaching being cheaper up front as well.

If it's a light bulb, it's obsolete. Period.
Electronic or magnetic coil square wave? I can't find any 860 or 1000 watt in Canada.

I can also tell you how PAR means shit, because I have a Mars300 with lenses, and its PAR value at 18 inches is 1400 PAR, but yet, my plants hate it, even at 36 inches.

I switch that out and replace it with my other Mars300 with 4000k with lenses, and it loves it. Noticeable change in 15 minutes time.

Why is that? Because 4000K LEDs have higher Lumen value, even with 125Watts.
First problem is that Mars is well known to be chinese made garbage. LOL at PAR being bullshit. Its long been an ACTUAL scientifc method for mesuring light, but hey wtf does science know right?

Are you taking about the Philips 860W CMH? Those are crap for growing. I had several customers use those and well they use them no longer. If you're not worried about heat or power consumption Get a high frequency 120kh ballas like Agrolux ALF 1000Rt, Philips 1000W DE and a DE reflector and off you go. Or get the Agr0lux ($460 retail or Gavita ($605 retail) systems, although not too happy about how and why Gavita increased the Canadian wholesale price and their own bulbs are way more expensive wholesale then the Philips Green bulbs.

They were crap for growing because of the magnetic ballast. Remember, they're exactly the same tech as 315W CMH. The only difference is the low frequency square wave ballast. A 30% body in efficiency does make a big difference.

And I disagree with your choices completely; light bulbs are officially obsolete. If you're going to buy lighting, get LED; COB LED or Quantum Boards.

Better spectrum, much better efficiency and better quality results. They will pay for themselves very quickly in terms of reduced or consumption, both for the lighting itself and for the cooling needed to optimize climate in your grow space.

Sorry dude but maybe for a closet grow or a few lights but I have 100's of Gavitas sold to guys who are growing some killer looking product that sells for $1800-2300/lb right now in the lower main land were average weed is $1000/lb

I didn't say the old stuff doesn't work. What I said was that it's obsolete. A P-51 Mustang still flies just fine- but in a modern dogfight it's hopelessly outclassed.

As product prices continue to fall, the power bill will become less and less affordable, as well lamp and reflector replacement costs and HVAC maintenance.

Even Gavita knows this and has been buying LED lighting from everyone it can, reverse engineering them and working on its own HID replacements. I have first hand knowledge of this.

didn't read entire thread, but there are people kicking ass an growing some real quality with the 860cdm especially vertical. they don't suck. best of both worlds cobs and the 315s. I'm interested in test Samsung strip leds.

I'll see if I can get photos but if you ever check my posting history I've always been Pffft for LED's. Seeing the final product and the weight that this person was getting changed my mind at last on the Fluence once. When I first saw their video a few years ago comparing the Gavitas and then not really showing the final product or giving too much info I thought it was BS. Having said that if I was to grow right now I'd either go with Agrolux or Gavita but with the Philips 1000D DE bulb.
Those three lights brands are the best and are what all the commercial light deprivation greenhouse for cannabis use. These lights are very powerful, and you have to keep them always from the plants, but bottom line is they will out produce LEDS at $2400, all day long. If you want to invest and save money, look at Cannapro Light deprivation greenhouses. Complete with 75 of the lights for supplementation, you can get two 36x96 greenhouses, 6200 sq ft, 5500 sq ft usable. You can run them all year round, and get 5 crops, even in the snow belt. You use 1/20 th of the power. Commercial growers light bill went from 30,000 month to 5,000. The complete setup costs $269,000 Canadian as its a Canadian company, complete with lights, and co2 , computer controlled everything etc. and commercial Fogco odor control used on hog farms. You can conservatively yield 4 million per year, gross. The only way to go !!
