Campsites are going for like $200 and are already sold out. Doesn't stop yah from pitching a tent in the park or woods tho. Or even pulling over on the side of the road. Be careful tho I think it's going to draw a lot of traffic ! Looks like the corvallis albany area would be the easiest to get to from Cali. But the beach (Lincoln city/newport) would be awesome. Or central oregon (madras) for their clear skies.

Looks like I'll be heading to the Warm Springs area. Need those clear skies. I have friends who will be on the Very southern edge of totality, so close to the edge, and the coast, that i'm going in a DIFFERENT DIRECTION.

Hi there.

This is my first post on Rollitup and a new Oregon outdoor grower. I’ve learned so much from reading here and I’d like to share the progress of my grow. I live in the southern Willamette Valley in the wine growing region. I have a small vineyard of 330 vines which are mostly Pinot Noir with some Pinot Gris and Riesling.

Back in late April I sprouted 3 Oregon Pinot Noir seeds. These were started under grow lights until mid June when I moved them outside into the ground. Two of the plants I have enclosed in some frames that I had previously made to protect some fruit trees from our sheep. These two plants I LST’ed to try to fill up the frames. The third plant I am growing on a trellis. The description of Oregon Pinot Noir from StoneyGirl is that it is not a Christmas tree, more like a spider plant and well suited for a trellis.

I am pretty sure that the one that is being trellised is a female. The other two have not yet shown their sex.
While we are in a somewhat secluded area, I still don’t want them to get too tall as not to blend in with the rest of the things growing in our garden.
Having a vineyard, I am quite keen on the problems that can effect the plants. So far, there have been no issues.
Hopefully these will all be girls

I believe budworms will be your biggest threat. I would spray BT now until a couple of weeks before harvest and examine the plants daily.

This season, well, let's say it did not go as planned. No big deal, we'll make it to the next winter indoor grow on our med reserves. I usually get a 2/3's or better female to male ratio, this year of the 9 seeds that popped, 6 were boys, so the ratio was reversed. Of the three girls I have left, two have a fungus issue at the base of the trunk and we haven't even hit the cool/wet part of the season yet. A good humbling experience can serve to recalibrate one's expectations.

And since I'm bitching, why stop now? That beautiful Dark Devil Auto I was growing got totally infested with some bug. It's the only one, others right next to it were not affected. So strange how that works.

OK... I'll stop bitching now. ;)

Two of my three plants turned out to be male. These were cut down today. The other plant is definitely of female, but it is not too far along in flowering.

The two males were the biggest of them all. While I am disappointed, I still learned a lot about outdoor growing and training. Now to get the remaining girl to finish without the dreaded mold.

The males are almost always the tallest. I'm still finding one ever now and again. Good luck the rest of the way.

I haven't been forced to build my rain structures yet thankfully. They would however come in very handy for this damn ash that's raining from the sky. I hope it ends quickly, its getting stuck on the nice new sticky buds.

I know what you mean, it looks like it's snowing here. Could be a few days before the winds shift or possibly rain comes.
