Has anybody else had to pull theirs early? It's freezing here in Pdx and my Obama kush ladies have another 2 weeks I think but there is zero sun in the forecast.
Not sure what to do here..
I was able to harvest 2 at the right times, The Black and Black Cherry Soda. My Agent Orange in still trailing behind, typical late developing sativa! I have started to find small brown developing spots of rot! It is really frustrating as the Agent Orange is my favorite!

I have a cover for it and keep it covered during the bad weather but it is still developing rot spots! I think this is just the natural progression.

This upcoming storm and rain isn't helping my confidence of harvesting this one at the proper time! The flowers are still developing, filling in with firm white pistils, no red showing at all...I have at least 3 weeks!

Cheers

I feel like it's too early. But I don't know what else to do!
I pulled all of mine early to varying degrees. I even tried finishing a few in the garage under lights, but that presented its own issues. I'm not an expert, but I think if you take them down early and say they are only 50% frosty (/50% clear), it would be weak to smoke. But, you can make concentrates out of it, like ice hash. That's my plan anyway, I have a freezer full of fresh frozen buds that were covered in trichomes, but only 50% to maybe 65% ready. Luckily for me this year I have more than enough to cover my needs, even after all the worm and fungus issues took their toll. Hopefully that hash thing will work out... I'll let y'all know.

Next year will be a greenhouse and light dep for sure. Fewer plants, but plants that actually finish as they should.

And everyone on the wet side, enjoy the sun today! Looks like we might not see it for a while.

Have you tried Black Cherry Soda before? I'm curious what its like, there is a dispensary on the north side that seems to always have clones of it. What I've read about it sounds interesting but I'd love to get another opinion.

I've found that by the time bud rot was visible from an external inspection, it had already begun in multiple places on the plant that I did not discover until I was trimming (and I found some more while doing a final trim). It's a tough call.

As with all things cannabis, there is a dispute about freezing buds for hash. Some say buds are best dried and then frozen and these people offer their "science". Then there are the naysayers. You might want to look into it.

Thanks for the head up. I got into this very last minute and had minimal time to do research, and all the techniques I was finding instruction on were for "freezing fresh", so that's what I went with. This year it is what it is, everything is already frozen and I doubt anyone would suggest thawing it, drying it, and refreezing it.

I definitely want to look into it more. I have more dried bud than I know what to do with, so it would be easier to store if I could make hash out of a good percentage of my cured bud. It would also be less smoking for the patient who is the end user, so it seems like the best thing all around.

I have tried the Black Cherry soda...It has an amazing cherry lIke aroma which mainly came out as it was growing and I would be pulling some yellowed leaves off...It was really sticky while trimming.

I don't get the terpene flavors when smoking...tho I use a triple filtered McFinn Original piece!

Effects are very Sativa like...crept up on me and hit me hard head high...two hits and I was stoned! Tho I am a cannabis lightweight !

Gorgeous!
I'm going to set up an indoor room and I'm wondering what kind to grow.. I'd like to try purple dream.

My ladies have been in the garage for several days now. They're getting some light through the window but not much.
The forecast calls for a couple of sunny days next week so I'm thinking I'll hold out till the end of next week then see what happens. Having them in the garage is keeping them dry.

I'm still riding out the storm over here. Kept two out there to finish, the other two are being jarred up as I type this. I just can't pull the trigger on chopping down the two remaining outside. The big one smells like a fresh cut pineapple, and the little one is just a little clone I planted from trimming I did late in the season. I have high hopes for lafawnda (the big one) :-)

I still have my Agent Orange out there...covered so not getting rained on but...I am still finding small spots.of rot every day!

It is frustrating as I really should leave it for a couple more weeks...I am just going to let it continue maturing and will continuously check for rot...

Cheers

Weeks to go on this Kilimanjaro . Got her tucked up next to the house as the wind is picking up.
Not a spot of PM, wish I had some fat, short indica pollen to breed her with. 2016-10-15 14.26.32.jpg

That's awesome! I wish I had a way to keep them covered outside. The greenhouse is too small now and there's no air circulation.
Maybe I'll put them outside next week.. we're supposed to have a couple days of sun.

Well, I had two very nice Bubble Gum plants outside and they weren't any where near ready, so I rolled the dice and decided to try any ride this fricked up weather out, my brother had harvested his Oboma, ATF and Blueberry plants and the buds were so under ripe it is sicking. anyway, so I tried to ride this weather out and harvested today....ROT EVERYWHERE!!! MOLD EVERYWHERE!!! a complete loss! GERRRRRRRR!!!!! I did salvage what may amount to an oz or two... this is out of two plants 6x5 and loaded ALL I needed was two more weeks! well there is always an indoor grow.

Shit man. That's what I'm afraid of. Some
Of the leaves are starting to yellow but I know they have at least 2 more weeks.
Decisions decisions..

Yep...I feel ya ! Same.with my Agent Orange...the wind blew it over yesterday tho I had it tied and braced. Broke off a large branch so I figured I would trim it up and see what I could dry...There was rot and mold on several buds...not a lot but enough that I don't want to be ingesting anything like that!

So it looks like my outdoor Agent Orange is a bust!

Any thoughts on cleaning up any mold and drying what I have and making ice water hash?

Cheers

As I've probably mentioned, I was in a similar situation. Rain was coming, I had plants there were not quite ready to come down but were getting moldy, and I needed to do something with them fast. I was also out of room for hanging and drying (I was hoping I would have another week on these and the rack would open up by the time they were ready).

So... I did about 30 minutes of rough research, and found some support for a system that would work for me -- making hash from "fresh frozen" buds. There is of course a lot of disagreement on which method (dry or wet/frozen) is better, but I didn't really have a choice. I froze most of two complete outdoor plants, so I have a lot of work ahead of me. I'm kind of burned out on trimming and the whole process, so I'm not sure when I'll get around to making the first batch. Since its in the freezer, I think I have some time to get to it.

As far as trimming moldy bud, don't forget that the mold can/will continue to spread while its drying, so during a second trim (or careful inspection) when its dry, you will probably find some that you didn't see the first time. I know I did with other plants that had mold that I hung to dry.
