organic vs DWC

Can anyone compare the two for me?
My DWC seems to be growing slow compared to friends who have used dirt.

I am by no means an expert but my roommates are pretty savvy. I watched one do an organic indoor soil grow last summer and I have just begun a dwc grow myself, not organic though. The key difference between hydro grows and soil grows, in my opinion, is that hydroponics allows for the absorption of nutrients as quickly as the plant can take them. The roots don't have to grow farther and farther out of a radius in search of more nutrients as they do in soil. Also, the bubbles being generated pack fresh oxygen into the water and into the res which should also be helping the intake of nutrients. My roommates, and myself as well, are sold on hydroponics being a very efficient way to grow quickly.

Are your friends plants outside? I've heard the sun typically generates well over 10,000 lumens per square foot which you'll find is very difficult to imitate indoors. You might also want to look at how much oxygen is being pumped into the res, I have a 60 gph pump for my (i think) 5 gallon res and I feel like its lacking sometimes. Another thing to kinda look at would be the climate; I am assuming this is in a closet or box or some kind of controlled environment. Temperature and humidity, if left unchecked, can play a part in stunting growth.

Wellthere are some things to start with, hope it helps!

yeah thanks, they started out growing pretty fast. I dont check the temp or humidity, but i can tell its hot enough from the lights, and my friend was growing in a basement window, with a reflector behind the plant. And on some site i was told the plant would keep a good humidity around it if its in the right temp.

your confused. You can do an organic soil or an organic hydro grow. Organic deals with the nutrients you are using and if they are made synthetically like chemical fertilizers, or are made from natural decomposed matter that have the nutrients needed to grow. I have grown organic before both hydro and soil and I can say that its awesome for soil, BUT it can increase difficultly hydro a little because you have a lot more things in there that are decomposing. My plants are growing great but the mix of organic nutrients I have in there has a pretty strong smell.

I agree. Currently doing an organic hydro grow with

Botanicare:
Pure Blend Pro
Liquid Karma
General Hydroponics:
Floral Nectar

Results are thick, bushy plants... I'm 5 weeks into veg, flowering within the next week.

Peace

Check ur ph man make sure u have plenty of air in the tub and make sure u begin feeding around 400-500 ppm soon as the roots hit the water.Ph should be at 5.8 i wouldnt go more than 6.0 and i wouldnt go less than 5.6.. My last grow was 10-12 inches tall sexed and less than 31 days from seed..
Ur not going to do that in soil by any means.Coco maybe if u have shit on lockdown.
Also, I use the above mentioned nute pro series organic. Tastes great.
Somethings wrong man.start with the ph?

I just posted some pics.

DAY 36, my largest was 24 inches across and 18 inches tall. Nuts. It's so freakin' bushy I have to separate them all.

Let us know how your grow is making out!!!

Peace.

I had to shut it down, well move it all out doors. I had to move out of my place, yeah i was not using the nutes right, and i didnt check the PH. Those were both prolly the problem. I had some seeds in soil with only 2 flourecent tubes growing faster then the 4 with all the attention. I put them all out doors, plan to grow again later, will reference back to this thread for the nutes and PH advice. Thanks alot.

I also misworded the question, I meant to ask hydro vs soil. I was using organic nutes, but my dog chewed the directions, so thats prolly where i went wrong.
My friends were using soil in a window, it grew good fast but it never made it to flower, got about 18-24 inches and then it slowly died.
Im about to move some of my grow to kentucky, heard thats a good place for it. I eventually plan to get a good hydro grow going, once i have the place to do it.
Thanks alot guy.
