If you dont have the correct security bit to remove, you can use an epoxy to create something to get on them with like pliers, or drill them out.

Security bit sets are a good idea to have for tearing into lots of things. Cheap and commonly available as well.

A set of computer specific "security" screwdriver bits can be had at any hardware store for well under $15.

In fact, there is a 30+ piece bit set available at Walmart for something like $6.

If you can figure out which specific bit you need, you can probably find one for under $5, though bluntly, it probably just pays to buy the whole kit.

I'd try that instead of trying to drill these out, or kluge something with chopsticks and chewing gum.

If you're really a cheap bastard, depending on what the screw you're trying to open looks like you may be able to grind the tip of an ordinary ($1) screwdriver to fit.

Damn, im trying everything guys, is there any other way to get these screws out? everytime i stick something in one it just strips the circle bigger. got a few to come off from being a little rough with it with pliers.

The screw is small and has a hole in the center, very small. those of you that work with compaqs would know.

are you sure it's not a rivet? you can either drill them out or take a flat headed screwdriver and give it a good tap at the side of it. just be careful...one, the heads can pop off in random directions, two, typically the frames are cheap metal and can bend very easily, and three, it's easy to have the screwdriver slide off the rivet head. but, it worked for mine.

and if they are screws, you could try to drill them out (rivets you could take care of this way too). just use a bit smaller than the hole it's going through, and drill right through the center of it.

Everything I can think of from having worked on these and the servers is probably not at your disposal. Again, bits, dremel tool, airhammer, drill, rivet puller, epoxy, files (lots of edges sometimes need that, dont laugh), etc.

I've had to use the epoxy quite a few times thanks to cheap bits. Once stripped its cleaner than using a dremel tool. JB Weld is overkill but has used it once when they bought the wrong stuff. Key point there is to weld a cheap bit to the top of the screw to allow for a driver to turn it or a wrench. Or worse case a small nut or thumb-screw if you have them around.

I USE an hammer and a flat screwdriver! These screw are made with very tender material and go off easily in this way :-)

My friend those are rivets and seem impossible to remove because they are not meant to be removed lol. However I have gotten past them with a electric drill bit 1/8" end :D good luck dont hurt yourself!
