Penatrator x2 vs Chinese. anyone got any experience??

Ok I live in the uk and have been growing a few years. I have dabbled in a lot of different hydro systems and have settled on what I like. Now I want to change the lights.
I have always stuck with sodium but my local hydro shop has just started stocking the penetrator pro x2 lights.
they look seriously good, with the new lenses are extremely bright.
But he is saying a 200 watt led will be as good as the old 600 watters, i was wondering if these claims can be accurate??
So after seeing the units I went online and checked out the chinese ones which also claim to have the extra lenses. They are about 1/2 - 1/3 of the price. (the pen x2 I looked at which was about 200 watts was £560)
Has anyone bought any of the Chinese versions and are they any good?
and lastly when the pen x2 fired up I noticed green lights, but thought green light was useless to the plant. Am I totally wrong about that?
cheers

No, they may actually be 180w rated lights, 60x 3w leds, the actual power draw at the plug is probally closer to 130w, this may have trouble competing with a 150 sodium let alone a 600w bulb

The lenses claim is true, what they do is focus the light from an led into a tighter beam, this is superb for a flashlight or torch, but may not be what you want for a grow light on for 12 hours covering a large area

Led grow lights are a new area of tech, and no one really knows what works best, I suggest going through some of the led grows in this forum, to see peoples experience with lights, methods and grow areas

After that you will probaly be more confused, that is the situation with leds at the moment :weed:

I have looked into it more any you are quite correct, It is very difficult to get a good idea of performance. A lot of people seem to hate them because they can't afford them and I have seen many half finished journals with the last 2 pages of people slagging the grower off for spending his own hard earned.
There are a couple of interesting ones, the solar storm 800 watts looks cool and would be worth a go if it wasn't $2000.

I have recently got myself an LG 720 watt plasma and the thing is a beast, it's like a stadium light and must weigh 20+kgs, but is is extremely bright. I know the down side to the plasmas is the lack of red spectrum during flowering so am going to add 4 LED panels.
Anyone got any ideas whether just red panels would be best or to try and go for a more fuller spectrum?

What sort of coverage are you getting? And how big do you grow your plants?

Will post a pic of the plasma in the morning, got it as ex display and payed £300 so thought it had to be worth a try
