I've just transplanted 4 of my Crown Royale ladies into 5 Gallon Hempys with a 2/3 Perlite to 1/3 Rockwool Cube mix ratio.
Anyone else try this combo before? How well did it go for you?

Yup. I tried that as well. Today I just harvest them. I haven't seen much of a difference... I guess it's only helpful if you're low on perlite or if you're planting straight in your final pot

That's awesome. Thanks for the info. Were they in 5 Gallon? Nice healthy roots nonetheless!
These were 4.5 L (a little over a gallon). The res was full perlite and the rest was perlite with rockwool croutons. They were kept outside in mid summer and I watered every 2-3 days. The roots went down and circled all the way up where they got air-pruned. They were planted in the final container and had no hint of slowed growth. Yes I def recommend these with a cap of some sort!

I have done my hempys exclusivly this way.when i first made them i only had a little perlite and some old 4x4 rockwool cubes.but i was running 5 gal dwc and wanted to try something differnt.i read about a guy doing 112 plant sog with only 2liter soda bottles.so i got them ready but had no vermiculite and didnt want only perlite because i wanted to be holding some water above the rez.i used 2 liter coke bottles and tore the rockwool into small pieces and mixed with perlite and these things took off! i still have 2 in flower about week 6 ill post pic tomorrow.the original thread i read he was pulling around 18 g dry off each 2 liter but im getting well over a oz each.however i didnt defoliate.but to answer its great combo.after thst i skip vermic n bought a rw slab to breakdown( 5.75 compared to 22.00 for already cubed rw bag) im actually starting a new grow with this mix this week with 2 gallon buckets this time.if i pulled over a zip with barely more than a liter bottle (2 liter cut down) how much can i pull off about 6x larger container (almost 8 liters.just so much less hassle than dwc.and shows potential.

How is the rockwool hempty doing?
I know thread is several years old but I’m so tired of limitations of coco I was thinking of trying rockwool hempty bucket.
I use a mixture of rockwool chips or mapito is another name for constant feeding.
I don’t know if the Rez in a hempty bucket will keep the rockwool wet enough without some type of top feed system?
