Capitalism has devolved into facism. It's done. Reinstating free markets is not going to help, our resource base is depleting on several different fronts and the free market has not come to our rescue. There needs to be a new way.

We are entering some dark times. The stock market will not hold out the year with out a major correction i.e. crash. Oil production has peaked and that is a whole other problem that can not be fixed with out socialist measures. Besides with a depleting energy base you can not have "growth" and in a "grow or die" based economic model debt can no longer be serviced on a corporate and personal level. Depression can't be stopped.

Political corruption has reached a fever pitch. So much so they just do it out in the open and don't even care anymore. Every law has been passed to take away our civil liberties. The bill of rights is gone and this was pushed through in a bipartisan manner.

Main stream media is so disconnected from reality it is criminal.

Revolution is the only way out.

No it's time to break out that mission accomplished banner again.

Nearly four decades after the four biggest Western oil companies were expelled from Iraq by Saddam Hussein, they are negotiating their return. By the end of the month, Royal Dutch Shell, BP, Exxon Mobil and Total will sign agreements with the Baghdad government, Iraq's first with big Western oil firms since the US-led invasion in 2003.

The deals are for repair and technical support in some of the country's largest oilfields, the Oil Ministry in Baghdad said yesterday. The return of "Big Oil" will add to the suspicions of those in the Middle East who claimed that the overthrow of Saddam was secretly driven by the West's desire to gain control of Iraq's oil. It will also be greeted with dismay by many Iraqis who fear losing control of their vast oil reserves.

Yeah and we don't even have that here in the "richest" country on the planet, Shameful.
1. Would you want a private entity to run the healthcare system?

If a private entity runs the healthcare system, then you need to look at HMO's. For the private company this would be the way to go. That way they can get out without spending lots of money on healthcare. Anybody that has an HMO from their company want to chime in and tell us how your medical care/treatment is.

2. Would you want the government to run the healthcare system?

See the Medicare/Medicaid system on how the government would run the healthcare system. If you know anyone on either of these programs (Medicare/Medicaid) ask them if they get perfect medical care. And the government running the healthcare system, would just be another money source they can pilfer and fund things like wars, buying government leaders of other countries to get their way, funding rebels to oust other governments so they may have friends in the new governments of these countries.

The gas is going to prolly level off and go down a bit after the summer this year anyways.. the gas will be hiked even higher next summer... unless of course we attack Iran.. then it'll just keep going up..

All the gas companies are owned by the same head honchos anyways..
If we attack IRAN gas will be the least of our worries.

Two weeks ago, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA),

“This liberal will be all about socializing, uh, uh . . . would be about . . . basically taking over and the government running all of your companies.”

June 18, Rep. Hinchey (D-NY),
“Should the people of the United States own refineries? Maybe so. Frankly, I think that’s a good idea. Then we could control the amount of refined product much more capably that gets out on the market…
So if there’s any seriousness about what some of our Republican colleagues are saying here in the House and elsewhere about improving the number of refineries, then maybe they’d be willing to have these refineries owned publicly, owned by the people of the United States, so that the people of the United States can determine how much of the product is refined and put out on the market.
To me, that sounds like a very good idea.”

Well, I recieve both medicare and VA health care, Not the same as CEOs and big wigs recieve, I'll grant you that, but, it is certainly better than the 40++ million that have none recieve, or the 150 million+++ that have inadequate health care they recieve at great cost. Actually, although the VA healthcare has it's problems (Mostly underfunded) it has served me well and millions of veterans well. My dad has had a quadruple bypass in one of the finest university hospitals that has lasted him for nigh on to 20 years now, all on VA. The government Model of, Dread, socialized medicine, would probably be based on the VA model, not such a bad thing in my view.

Unless they continue to underfund the VA. Which would probably mean that if the Universal Healthcare was based on that Model, then they would probably underfund it as well. Now back when your father had his surgery, I think Reagan was president. He was one of the first ones in my short lifetime that said that the soldiers deserved better medical care than he received. For some reason this government only cares about soldiers who fight and not so much when they need healthcare. I mean the current administration who cuts their budget the most. Remember recently the inadequacies that was shown at Walter Reed Hospital? Also, I helped design and build a house for a veteran who was put in a wheelchair from an IED in Iraq. Now he joined after 9/11 to go to Afghanistan to fight/capture bin laden and his group. But instead he was sent to Iraq to fight people that had nothing to do with Al Qeada. That is, until the US sent troops there anyway. One thing you can say about Hussein is, that he would not allow terrorist actions in his country. He would just kill them and bury them in mass graves. But my friend was not given enough medical care, money from the army to refit his house for his wheelchair. So the company that I worked for designed a house, we purchased the land, hired a contractor and built it. Then for his service to the country my boss handed him the security deed free and clear.

Most awesome. The company you work for, is it a private organization or government?

The company is a private organization. We do government contracts though. One part of the company puts FLIR Systems in planes and helicopters for the Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force. The division that I work in puts electronics in J-Star's planes. Another division puts electronics in B-2's and B-52's. The owner feels that if we do this for injured soldiers that live around any cities his company is in, then he is required to do that for them. Something about them volunteering to protect the Constitution.

It must have been like 15 years ago as Bush I was president, and the treatment of the Iraqi returnees is abominable, that you can attribute directly to G.W.Bush and his cronies. Kudos to your company and your Boss. If more companies were run like that, Capitalism might get a better rating by me. There is no doubt that this president is in the top three vying for worst president, since I didn't know the other two, I have to give him top honors.
