Pf Tek- great for begginers? Day 14..pics

Hey guys/gals...I started my first grow 14 days ago and just wanted to post some pics and maybe get some feedback. I started with 6 jars nocked with B+ and 6 jars of Creeper. 1/2 cc in each hole(x4). One test jar with 1cc per hole(x4) just for shits and giggles..I'll be posting pics along the way. Anyone know what to expect, weight wise, from a 1\2 pint jar after first harvest?

Here are my jars...2/6 Creeper has no mycelium growth as of 14days in...B+ had 100% rate..what do you think so far? I have 10cc of B+ left in the fridge but I'm gonna order some more spores for another larger grow so any suggestions on strains?

Subbed,

At least a quarter dry. As you tune your fruiting chamber you'll get better yields. Don't skip your consolidation week or you want get pins for a while.

I recommend harvesting and starting over (have the next batch started halfway through).
In a less than perfect setup, it allows less opportunity for thric and stuff to set up house near your grow.
Once that shit starts, you are out of growing for a while.

View attachment 3922216 I know, it seems counter-intuitive, and if you have been growing a while you have probably taken care of most of the harmful vectors.
But I am saying again, for a beginner grower it is more important to have a nice clean slate reset BEFORE they see the first inevitable contamination.
ah word, what strain is that?? massive and very pretty. pf standard?

Subbed,

OK, here's my rookie showing....what is exactly a consolidation week? And as far as a fruiting chamber...any helpful tips about using a clear rubbermade tote would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Read this tek and don't change anything but the tub size to your liking. It should be noted that there are 1/4" holes on the top, bottom and sides every two inches. The tub is then elevated off the resting surface, I use upside down plastic cup. The tub is filled with soaked perlite.

Consolidation is when your jar is 100% colonizes, wait one more week for the mycellium to continue to consume the substrate before taking out. Tap your jar on a sterile cutting board to pop out the cake. Soak your cake for 12-24 hours in sterile water. Roll in dry vermiculite. Place in chamber on a piece of foil with enough holes to allow water to pass and not puddle.

Fan with the lid for 15-30 seconds three or four times a day then mist the perlite surface and the air around the cakes.

You'll see pins in about 7-14 days and full fruits within a week.

Harvest when you like.

Oh, something else I forgot (been a few year since I did a grow, one of the benefits of having lots of people wanting you to try their shit), whether in jars or tubs, put about a bit less than an inch of vermiculite in the bottom (top too for jars), This lifts the mycelium and whatever your cake is made of, from sitting in dripped down condensation and mycelium piss.

Don't bring perlite into your setup keep it in its own bowl, it is hard to see pieces stuck in shrooms, and it is hard on your teeth.

I'm about to build my fruiting chamber...gotta to pick up some perlite....I like the aquarium moss idea but just to keep it smooth, I'm gonna basically follow the Tek from above...my only concern is the lighting....kind of light?..light cycle?..also ..got to wondering if there is some way to buy dab daddy vape refills online....be sweet to find a cool connect in a legal state.....maybe just dreaming....

if you can use ambient light from a window, go for it, or if you use any spectrum 8.5w LED bulb (just speaking in 2017 efficiency terms) from lowes or something, that will work too. Put it on 12/12. I have read instances where people could not get pinning to occur while in direct sunlight. So, if you choose the sun, use an indirect source or some low power bulb. You will notice that the pins and fruits grow towards the light source. I actually dont know how monotubs fruit without light but maybe someone with more years experience will chime in.

I'm still waiting for most of jars to reach full colonization..I have 2 jars that are 2 days into extra colonization week...I picked up some cut to fit AC filters....was wondering if these would be a good idea to keep contams out..

I think I have seen a vet using something similar in a breathable glove box. Are you trying to use them for the hole on your jars? Surgical tape or bandaides work. I like bandaides because they are each in a factory sterile casing and still cheap.

If you mean for your chamber you can use polyfil or surgical tape to cover holes. You can also not covet the holes and just clean your chamber when and if it gets a contams with hydrogen peroxide and boil your perlite. If its trich you can PC your perlite and clean the chamber with alcohol.

If you want a good glovebox tek. Try st0be's glove box. It uses a breathable tyvek painting suit to fix the nitril gloves to 4" drain PVC and spacers. Completely air tight but will run you 70$ to build at a department store and more if you mess up the first time. But it's a fun build.

So I added the fiber filter to the bottom...losing pellets of pearlite is making my ADHD go nuts..but I think will help with FA circulation? Also, soaked pearlite in alcohol and Lysol every step seems like...fingers crossed...gonna add one of my cakes against my better judgement but I have a wedding to attend in 3 weeks and can't go empty handed...

Update for anyone who cares......day 5 with no pins...added 3 other cakes that have been full co-nized plus 5 days...was having trouble keeping humidity up during the day while at work but added an air stone in water...seems to be holding at 94%-100%....realized a few days ago how douchey the light question was but it never came up in my previous ....research for lack of a better word :)..... also, I moved some cakes around and noticed just how light they are....or dry feeling....like a sponge that has gotten dry...maybe they'll soften/moisten up a bit with my humidity better maintained.
