So, I just built a 400w COB LED I am running in a 2.5 x 5 tent. I have a 315W CMH light sitting here doing nothing. Would it be overkill to run them both in that size tent? Will a 400W LED be enough on its own?

400w in that space is 32w/sq./ft. which is plenty for COBs. Your biggest problem would be trying to manage heat, unless the tent's like 7+ft. high your going to have a hell of a time and it'll be detrimental if anything. You're better off with the COBs and a good environment than COBs + CMH and a bad environment.

My friend is currently running an HLG550 and a 660 watt HPS in a 42" x 48" area.
14 sq ft.
He has 7ft height tho.
The lights are about 20 inches away .
He used to run 2 x 660 watt hps in there..
The plants are 4 weeks into flower and they look fantastic.
The plants under the hps are 3 - 4 inches taller than there ones under the QBs.
So I would give it a go........
