I always wondered is it possible to find a pheno that was fire no matter when you Harvested? Like between weeks 8 tru 10 instead of checking trick, ne one had plants like that?
yeppers, but not following black market grow styles

"it depends on the strain"

Yeah. No shit. Elaborate. It's not like its a child. If I took this advice literally I'd never be able to assume literally anything. Not that I'm saying strain doesn't matter but stop saying this like as if the grower is going to be able to look up their strain and find the answer to their question.

Feel free to post your own phrase you're tired of hearing.
unfortunately you can not assume anything. I had to grow a few different strains before I found one that grows well up here in the high desert. too many variables to make any assumptions. you just need to keep trying different things until you find what works best for you

We're dealing with life that doesn't follow any hard and fast rules. If you're expecting A+B to equal C every time, you need to rethink your expectations.

I have a buddy that bad mouths seed companies because he got some bad phenos when buying single seeds. He thinks they should be carbon copies, doesn't understand genetic expression of different phenotypes within a lineage. Certain strains have more genetic disparity, so therefore, "strain dependent" is a valid answer, imo.

Maybe "pheno dependent" is more accurate.
AGREE!

Strain dependent is the thing you need to hear, in conjunction with feeding instructions.
This strain likes you to pound it with nutes.
This strain wants less of everything.
This, less N
This more N
This less P
This higher K
RH
Temps
It goes on and on......

If you can't wrap your head around the different needs of strains and pheno's.......Your still stuck in newbie land....

About crosses, pheno etc.

With a two cross say ind/sat you will see some seeds looking like the original ind and some looking like the original sat in appearance. Does this mean those plants are predominantly a ''copy'' of the original strain and will mimic it's old blood line so to speak, or may it look like it's original strain yet still hold some or even more of the th/flavor values of the other strain?.

Is Pheno the look out for a mixture of combinations or one particular attribute that has incorporated a better mix of the two ind/sat strains?, ofc depending on what you look for.

First part: Any F1 crossing can express any amount of each parent in the offspring.
Like it will grow and look/act like the indica parent but, express the "high" like the Sativa parent.
Or, any mixture there of. This also has an environmental twist.....It effects the final expression in those too.

Part 2: Mixture...

There are truly far more pheno expressions in F1 pairings, then many understand. How about you do a cross (F1) and get 200 beans. It is not rare to have 8 distinct pheno's in popping as little as 12 of those beans... It could be said that in that 200 beans is also the winner, winner, chicken dinner next stupidly high THC expressing strain. The catch is, that pheno can express as only 1 bean in that whole 200 beans...This actually happens!

The whip dip pheno of Clockwork orange is said to be 1:200..... The beans go for $250 per 6......You'll go insane looking for it. Not to mention broke.

So then, if breeding and looking for what you actually are "going for". Can take a lot of beans to find.....

A well known controversial breeder from SoCal spent about 10 years looking for the real deal Roadkill "Skunk" strain....He found some other interesting stanky pheno's along the way too. Now I wonder just how much he spent on beans, and everything it took to run them for those 10 years of looking (There where several breeders, actually doing the same thing. It was group effort).

Here's where you begin to understand some of those high bean prices of the S1's he brought to market....thing is. Most of those, went to other breeders wanting that to work with. Those pure S1's are long gone...There are some interesting cross's available.

Understand?

Its Cal mag, flush with 25 gallons RO water, water 6 times a day with 5 cups per gallon calmag, making sure to have at least a 200 percent runoff.
As long as my wine glass is full im happy if the threads a rollin.

The only words i hate are "defoliate" and "Flush". I hate them because depending on who is typing they can mean different things. They mean one thing but people make up their own definitions...

But that leads to me topping up my wine glass and typing....
Here's mine.

Grower : Long story followed with should I flush?
1st response : Yes.
Grower : Thanks, I'll do it now.

So it's like breading for a gold chocobo (showing my age). Only it's green. Unless it's purple.

i love it when they ask whats wrong with their plants, and give you no pics or info besides the name of the strain, if that.

You may get your wish. The "leaders" of the cannabis industry are tired of over used strain names that really don't decribe the product as in depth as needed by the customers... etc.

I'm sick of hearing: HOW MUCH LONGER!!

how much longer is one of the few questions you can legitimately answer with it depends on the strain...but thats not an answer, once someone tells you the strain, you should have an answer for them...if you don't know, don't try to cover it up with "depends on....."

The "leaders"? Now thats funny right there. ;)

Marketing abhores generic names. It reduces an item to a commodity. And while there is a market in supermarket for commodity foods, the "Leaders" prefer branding to create a false sense of quality that can leverage a higher price. The Leaders in this case are business people trying to increase profits.

But this is really kind of silly to say that strain names will go away. Sure, we want strain profiles, more info than a seeds parents. But we still want that other info as well.

So one day you may buy by brand, just like you do with wine, but you will also buy strain, just like you do with wine. Some people will buy anything from a specific vintner, and avoid several others no matter what they are selling.

If you do a good enough job building your brand equity, people will be more tempted to buy one of your strains.

But I prefer to say "it's grower dependent". Because even with two growers and the same strain, one can run into issues much faster than the other. If I use beneficial microbes and you don't, I may have to feed less than you. If you overfeed, you may have to flush while I don't. Same strains.

I for one, definitely hope that cannabis goes the way of wine. Strain names existing are fine, but a brand will matter just as much. Along that line of logic, enough with telling me about what kind of high I will get. Imagine if liquor bottles tried to tell you the type of drunk you'll have. Some people say a wine drunk is different than whiskey drunk, I disagree, just like I disagree with types of highs. Either way, if you don't, thats your opinion and it has no business being on the packaging. Sell the taste and label the THC/CBD content in the fine print.

A wine will often have a description of the flavors and that relates well to cannabis i agree.

I disagree heavily on the same high deal. I dont like or want a couch lock and neither does my wife.
