Hi all!

My problem is this, i have a 3ft tall big bud in my wardrobe under 150w HPS and has about 5 weeks of flowering left. It has grow so tall that it is nearly touching the light!!
What should i do? Bend the plant or top it? I know it's not a good time to top it but i may have no choice! I can't raise lights any higher now.
Please advise!
Thanks!!

you're sort of late in the game for topping... it will obviously shorten your plant, but you might not get the effects most top for. My vote is for tieing down the plant a little each day

bend it little by little a day, what you're comfortable with.

I've been doing LST for some time now, works out great, can make a 3ft plant about 2ft or shorter if you know what to do :D. there's some great diagrams in the GrowFAQ.

How much should i bend it to start with? tie it down with string?

put some stick around the bottom of stem and tight it together . drill little hole on top pot tight the rope from that little hole to top . pulll down easy little a time . good luck

no one can really say how much to bend it except for you just when you start to bend it if it feels like it wants to snap then stop dont force it too much and yes u can use string if you want. Wot you want to do is train it downward or out to the sides. typically people will LST ( low stress training) to avoid this issue, the stem starts to get a little hard to bend once they get this far along. so just be careful and again dont force it too much. Next one you grow LST it so you can avoid this problem in the future, plus LSTing it helpe maximize yields which is good when you are only dealing with a plant or two. GL :blsmoke:

I use paper clips and wire coat hangers. One end is bent with a hook to put on the part that I want pulled down, and the other end straight that gets pushed down into the soil. Its just something you have to get the feel for. Once you do it a few times and/or break a few limbs you will get it figured out.
