plant odor and strength

I just finished a grow with a new strain (tangerine dream). The plant developed huge buds and I carefully monitored both trichs and hairs before harvest. So now it is all trimmed up and hanging in my drying rack. Unlike other strains I have grown this has very little odor. A bit of a green smell but not the overpowering smell that usually comes with the first few days of the dry . So my question is... is odor, or lack of , indicative of the potential of the finished product? If the answer is yes, as I fear, what may have gone wrong here? I ran a blackberry kush along side with the same water and nute schedule and it rocks!
Thanks in advance

I think the smell is one of the ways the plant lets us know what pheno to keep...kinda like it reaching out and smacking you saying "keep me!"

Smell has nothing to do with THC, CBD, or CBN content. Smell is all about terpenes, which are also responsible for some of the intricacies that make the high from each strain unique.

For my part, smell and taste play a MAJOR role in my strain selections. If it smells and tastes delicious, I can always burn a little more if I want to get more "elevated".
