Plant Problem MG?

First of all I want to say thanks to everyone who is on this site for all of your help. Secondly, this is my first grow. Thirdly, I think that I have a problem with MG. I have checked the FAQ to decide this but I want to check with some experienced growers. I have no way to check my water so I have started treating for this. I know that you are all thinking that my pots are too small but I want to go hydro for the next cycle so I don't want to invest any more $. I am going to attach some pics for you all to look at. Thanks for any and all comments and help.

it does look like mg but the problems is what it will take to fix.

are you using softened water? do you ph after adding your nutes?

what food are you feeding.

and overall your plant is very healthy, if you correct you lock up or lock out or food problem you will be ok, your plant is very tall allready and will be very very tall one it stretchs for flowering, the lower leaves will get less and less light making those leaves "rot" off. you see this occur when someone reuses heavily salted soils that have been fed.

I have been adjusting the PH of my water with PH down. I don't have a digital meter so I am just getting it close. It is kinda hard to take all of this in at once. I am just using well water. I started treating MG prob. with epsom salts as suggested in FAQ. If I treat my water every time I should be ok right? Like I said this is just to get me by until hydro next time. I am using........I can't remember what brand but it is the same people that make kool bloom. The PH down and ferts were recommended by local hyro shop. Actually the one plant got a bit dry that is why it is a bit droopy. Thanks for all of your help and comments. Keep them coming.

I think I am going to start flowering next weekend. If I have decent luck wiht this grow does anybody have an opinion on whether or not I should stick to soil? I read mixed reviews! Hydro users swear by it and dirt users say they won't switch. I was going to go hydro because of speed but if yield is about the same I don't want to sacrifice taste and complicate with hydro.

if you read above i spoke of lock up, if you check the ppm of your well water you will be shocked, if you are softning this water with salt ( home water softner) then there is your problem. adding epsom will add mag, if the problem is your all locked up then adding more salt will destroy your root system more

hydro is faster soil is more forgiving. soil uses lots of nutes, drip or flood systems use alot of nutes every time you change out.

Don't Reuse Soil EVER.

This is my first grow so soil is new but I would not reuse. The water is straight out of the well. It is not softened. Without checking PPM how do I know if I am "locked up"? Where would I find a meter to check? Can I get by without it?

i garden alot, the reason i asked about your water is 3 years ago i had a rural house going and i had that same problem, my first reaction was to epsom salt this locked me up so bad one day of growth and the leaves would be dieing. one i conditioned my water from 783 ppm to my RO water @ 19 ppm this major reduction in TDS total disolved solids allows you to add the proper nutes to the desired ppm insted of adding them and they " fall right out" of your tea

Ok, how did you condition your water? Should I replant in bigger pots? How big is needed for mature plant? How can you tell it is root bound?

first through a GE total house filter then into 40k grain water softener. now the excessive line calicum or lower the next step is to get reverse osmosis water filter. this has pre filer post filter and reverse osmosis membrane.

I have been looking there lots. I just looked again and found out a bit about lock up. If I folair feed I cannot lock out though right, or did I misunderstand. I didn't find anything there about root bound though.

Ok, here is where I start kicking myself in the A$$. Damned if I do, damned if I don't. I guess I had better get out tomorrow and buy some bigger pots. I really didn't want to because I wanted to go with the hydro. Part of the reason for that is the work involved with dirt. Hydro is much less intensive right? What do you think.....stick with the dirt or no?
