Yea, connected to an air pump. It put's more oxygen into the water which plants need.
Think about when you over water a plant and why you should allow it to dry out some.
One reason for allowing it to dry out some is to allow the soil to be oxygenated more. Over watering it doesn't allow for as much oxygen.
Have you ever thought why over watered plants die in soil but hydro works fine when the roots are in water 24/7, oxygen.
Apparently, colder water holds more oxygen than warmer water. I've never tested this myself but I believe it to be true.

It's not necessary to bubble the water when using it with soil, this is just what I do because my air pump is already running and I had a spare nozzle. The plant's would still grow fine if I didn't because I allow the soil to dry properly.
