Im growing 3 autoflowering Nirvana Short Rider's and I have read that you can enduce flowering by putting them into the traditional 12/12 light cycle, but the question is how soon can i actually put them into flowering and still get an okay amount of bud. The plants are curently about a week and a half old aand only about 2 inchs tall.
I really just want to know the soonest time that it would be safe to switch the light cycle and if anyone has done this, how did it go?

you dont enduce flowering with autoflowering plants they will start flowering no matter what light cycle you give them its simply upto you to decide generally give them as much light as you can afford

Yes, I know that but i have read many forums where people had to start flowering early due to space shortage or just because they wanted to or sometimes because some peoples wouldt flower by its self.

well in that case 12/12 is the schedule to use. but honestly didnt think autoflowering plants needed the change in photoperiod to enduce flowering i would give them 18/6 and leave them to do there thing if space is a prob some selective trimmining or lst will keep them in check

Ill believe it when I see it but till then nope.

Autos ONLY flower based on age not exposure to light. I dont think they would qualify as autos if it were true... You cannot speed up flowering anyways, besides plants usually start flowering 14-28 days are being planted. Why would you want to speed that up? Even if it was possible autos work with such little time frame for veg any earlier your plant wouldnt deliver because the plant isnt big enough to support decent buds.... Autos in general are used for limited space already. When autos are grown in strictly 12/12 they just stay very tiny but does not induce flowering differently then a auto in 20/4 or 24 hours.

because they are autoflowering plants thats what they have been bred to do no other reason than that just feed them give them what they want and sit back and enjoy the ride.

well something I have found when growing autos in with my 12/12 they generally start budding a few days to a week after there sisters in 20/4, not before so it wont speed them up for sure...now yes if it goes a month under 20/4 and it did not autoflower then yes 12/12 it should go...
