my popcorn at 4 days old:) i put 5 seeds from the bag i got at the supermarket and all of them came out..except one was growing upside-down..so it's got a few days catching up to do.

this is my first time growing popcorn..am gonna transfer them into the windowsill growbox outside my apt window..do i need to separate them or can they grow together? coz when i transferred them from the peatpot to the potting soil, their roots were all tangled and i didn't wanna hurt them

before this i didn't know you could actually grow popcorn..

I grew "pop secret" movie theater strain and was very impressed with its traits and yield. I got a case of dried popcorn when all said and done. A proper cure makes all the difference. My next grow will be Orville Redenbachers natural and organic! :hump:

we grew about 40 plants of "popcorn" in my grandma's garden one year. worked great but unless you hav access to a husking device its a bitch to get the kernels off the plant. I'm pretty sure there is a certain time to harvest to get popcorn vs normal feed so u should read up on it..lol, i'm interested to see if this goes anywhere.

and a normal corn stalk will produce 1-3 ears of corn. (i think)

and no...farmers don't just throw seeds into their field, they are planted at very specific intervals by the planter, usually about 20-48 inches apart depending on the quality of the soil. i'm not sure if this also applies to popcorn, it isn't grown as long so i really dunno

If you do end up with any ears of corn that you want to make into actual popcorn i have something cool to share with you. At a farmers market a little while back i got some dried corn which the guy said you can put in a paper bag and then put it in the microwave on popcorn setting. The popcorn was some of the best ever and the ones which didnt come off of the cob could just be eaten like normal corn. It was pretty cool and tasted great.

FUggin things grow huge... I tried that this year... hold on for a picture, if they steal each other's light it is a fuggup, and they get realy stunted.

Look at attchment... see how small the read plant is for example...

Other pics are of the first cob I saw just now when I went to take the photo :D , and of my second patch that is now about 3 weeks old...
