Portland Area Legit Medical Question

Hello all,

I have tried to search google and ask about but I cant seem to get soilid information. Any help would be valued.

My wife has "Stage 3 Endometreosis." It is a rediculosly painful disease. She has about 5 years of documented surgerys and gone through all sorts of medical help. How would she go about obtaining her medical card?

Another question is this.
Her mother and brother (both living off site) have Crohns. I am perfectly healthy (probably an A+ in health) Could I become "caregiver" for all of them? How does all this work?

My thought has been to stay under the radar. I didnt like the idea of paying the state/doctors to do what I have been doing anyways. I only flower 5 girls at the same time.

Thanks all.

Assuming the three patients in question are registered with the state you would need to register as their caregiver, which costs $300/person, or $900 total. Once registered as the caregiver you could have a total of 18 flowering females.

If you just want to continue growing 5 or so females at a time have your wife register as a patient and "teach her" how to grow. That would cost $100, plus doctor's fee if you don't already have a recommendation.

$900?? That is a rip off. The state legalizes and then gouges the shit out of people. I may just continue to fly under the radar.

What would be the best way to get my wife legal? We both have no clue.
Thanks.

get a doctor to sign the form to say you need it, then get one for your wife (or vice versa) then register w/ state and pay your fee for the card (like 100$ each) and grow your own (6 flowering females at a time only) follow the rules and don't worry if the knock at the door is "the man"... remember cops are not legally privy to medical files, so unless you tell them you grow, you're ok... plus if they do kick in the door, you have legal defense... if you have the card, then it's like they kicked your door in for having aspirin or cough syrup. you win... if you can do it, legal is totally the best way...

Your wife and her mother and brother should all qualify under pain or nausea. The best way (IMO) to handle this at low cost is this.....Have your wife get her doctor to recommend medical cannabis and sign the form, and then fill out all necessary paperwork with the state. This will cost 100 dollars for the yearly fee, unless she gets food stamps (20 for this). If you do not have a doctor that will sign the paperwork, then go to MAMA (a clinic with a doctor) with your medical records. They will charge 180 for an appointment and also give you an overview of how to do all of this... Then you take that paperwork from MAMA to the state offices and pay your fee we talked about earlier.

Now, you should be able to be a caregiver for no money at all, just putting your name on the paperwork. Your wife should be the grower, and she will be the grow site for her mother and brother if need be. That way, you can lend your knowledge to the process, but not have to qualify yourself for a card to be helping.

Best bet is to call MAMA, they can help you through the process....this is what they do. And remember to give back if you can, once you have your card.....remember what it is like those first 4-5 months getting your first plants through, and waiting for the precious medicine. Best of luck, add me as a friend if you like.

MAMA, Mother's Against Misuse and Abuse. They will facilitate your wife getting her card for a small fee. They have an on site doctor, just in case your doctor refuses to sign for you. You have to have a medical reason for cannabis, it is not like you walk in and say you want weed, and they help you. They need to see your medical records that show your medical issue. They will not take a deposit from you unless they think you will qualify. Very nice people there. They will get you informed on the ways of medicating, staying legal, etc.

Thank you for ALL the help. We will check out MAMA. Should she tell them she wants her medical card? Or is it somthing like mentioning MJ in a head shop? Does she have to be discreet?

being that she has a chronic systemic disease and probably has walked down the whole heavy drugs thing and wants relief from all the bs... if she gets relief from mmj, she should be able to get that relief and a licensed doctor should be able to help her do it in a safe and respectful way... just make sure that all the paperwork is in order, and be prepared to wait wait wait for the state to do what it does, and within about 2 months (sometimes less, but...) you all should be in the clear! feel better folks!

HAHA... ooops. my bad...

New posts... I'll keep my eyes open for that in the future.
No, that is my bad, haha. I saw Portland in new posts, and assumed Portland, Oregon. Darn all my misinformation. I am not sure how Maine works, but my info is for Oregon, man! My bad. Hope things are similar out there, but if you ever move to Oregon, you can take my advice.....lol. Sorry to have wasted your time, I do not think they have MAMA out there, but probably businesses like it. Did you guys know that Portland, Oregon is named after Portland, Maine? 2 gentlemen that settled out west argued over the name of the new port city, and one was from Maine, and the other was from Boston, Mass. Guess who won the coin toss? haha

My apologies, guys! Good luck with the MMJ.

And anywhere MMJ is legal, she should not be afraid to check around. There are probably clinics out there, too. It does look that as of 2009, your wife and both the other people should qualify, so I would start with your doctor, or anyone you hear of that might be mmj friendly. If you qualify, there is nothing wrong with getting a second opinion of a doctor that is not biased against mmj.

In Maine you don't have to pay $300 for each patient your a caregiver for as long as your not charging them anything. (no monetary gain) They just have to right you in as there caregiver and have there Maine medical marijuana card.

EDIT: (This is WRONG read below for more detail !!!)

mdanforth is right of course..but I am curious where MYWhat got such misinformation. The $300 is pretty clearly spelled out both in the law and on the form(s).

I just sent in my application form to the state for an ID card earlier this week.

I'm fairly positive I read on there that Hospice workers, Nursing Home employees and Family members acting as an individuals Caregiver, and doing so with no monetary gain. Would not be subject to the $300 caregiver charges.

Maybe I Read it Wrong !! I wish I had a copy of that so I could read it again. (I'll try to find a copy)

Just realized in my first post that I didn't say for a family member. (But thats what he's trying for)

Caregivers who do not grow can register for free. This allows them to possess cannabis for a registered patient legally.

Caregivers who grow need to pay the fee of $300 per patient. Caregivers who grow can, but do not have to, charge the patient for the cannabis.
