Possible Thrips Infestation

Hey all,

For the past week I've noticed some pest on two of my plants. Today I decided to pull some leaves and take a few pics of the pest.



On the bottom I noticed some white ones, im assuming the larva



I believe they are Thrips but what to get confirmation. If they are Thrips, any recommendation on how to eliminate this pest? I've been reading around and see Captian Jack being discussed a lot, any recommendations ?

Yes, thrips.

Anything with spinosad will work including Cpt. Jacks, neem oil, ionic water with soap (i.e. mighty wash), amblyseius cucumeris, predator nematodes, ladybugs, praying mantis. Google is your friend...

Those are thrips, yup, Squish as many as you can, stage 1. Seriously, I'd go plant to plant leaf to leaf and manually kill as many as you can first. Of course with big or lots of plants, that won't do shit, but I dunno what you got, so I'm just throwin that out there. Kill crush squish destroy.. AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

Good luck. p.s. I remember reading a while back something about using temp and RH to get thrips outta the garden, I don't remember the exact details, but check it out, Google is your friend #2.

We had thrip infestati9n in out indoor garden dont worry they damage the leaves a bit but u can flower with them just end up with their shit in ur nugs lol. Definitely spray them but id say way better have them than mites. After spraying w.e u use put some Diatomacious earth on top soil to cut up newly hatched larvae that come out from the soil. They will lay eggs on leaves also but mostly soil.

+1 on that spinosad spray did wonders for me with thrips.

Hey all,

Thanks for the information. Yeah, after I took the pics I decided to go leaf by leaf and remove them by hand. Luckily I had my two plants ( White Widow & Girl Scout) on my window ledge and not my grow tent. Just want to get rid of them all before putting them in my tent.

I'm going to pick up some of the Monterey Spray. Will let you all know how that goes.

Have any of you used the Sticky Thrips trap or is it even worth it?

I have. I had thrips my very first grow 100 years ago and tried those sticky pads. I remember it did catch quite a bit of them. But I had to spray some stuff, don't remember what, been forever, the traps alone didn't do the job.

This ^^^ Spinosad is hands down thee thrip killer. With this product and one to 3 applications depending how bad the infestation is....your thrips will go bye bye. Thrips are easy to wipe out. Nothing like p.m. or mites.

I prefer using a combination of all that I listed, but I find predatory nematodes work best. It also depends on your individual garden setup. I'm an organic hydro-like garden, so..

Stickyvtraps are more designex to give you

headsup of an issue before it gets out of contril but to eliminate you will need to spray. Adults will only grow wings once they feel there is a heavy population somewhere some may never. Always best to stay vigilante and let the plant tell you whats going wrong. No worries you will eradicate them in a week and you will feel like a thrip pro lol

Bingo!!! Yellow or blue sticky cards are meant for observing or monitoring a potential infestation.. how bad and what type of pest. Not as a method of control.
