Possible to plant clones outdoors before end of season?

i bought some seeds and they are starting to get big, but I want more plants and don't wanna buy more seeds. So I think cloning is the answer but not sure if it's going to work with an outdoor grow. So here's my question:
How early in plants lives/size of plants can I start to take clones without killing/hurting the plant? How many months of growing do clones usually need to produce a good amount? (I have a pretty long growing season here)

How old or big should they be when I start to clone them? Idk jus want them to have enough time to get big and flower properly. But I guess a little plant is better than no plant either way so doesn't matter that much.
