Just looking to start a collection of micro/cab cob grow lights.

I like the idea of DIY LED lights but there isn't much content to be found on the forums so I wanted to start this thread to see if we could get a collection going.

If for some reason you can't post pictures please leave a parts list.

Currently in my ngb style cab I am running two cxa-3070 3000k AB chips each powered by its own meanwell hln-80h-42b. I can run them up to 1900ma or turn them way down. My flower section is 11"d x 20"w x 29" tall. I run two plants in three gallon smartpots of organic soil mix using blumats for watering. Using pvc frames and 1" square fencing I have created modular scrogs that suspend the bottom of the smartpot and allow me to pick them up and move them around if needed.

Sweet. That's pretty close to the size box I'm planning out now. what do you usually run them at? And how close can you get the lights before bleaching the tops?

I have been running them at 42w each lately. During the summer I dont go much over 35w. My goal is an ounce per plant with a staggered harvest every four weeks. I keep two moms and a cloner in the veg area and try to have one ready for flower every time one finishes up.

I mounted my fixture through the ceiling so the heatsink fins can dissipate heat out side the cab and the drivers are mounted outside as well. Doing it this way allows me to use a pc fan carbon filter for absolute stealth. If my plants get to close to the light they start going lighter shades of green (almost looks like a deficiency) so I turn them down a little. If I were to run co2 I bet I could run higher light levels

Yeah I've been thinking about mounting mine outside as well but don't think I will due to stealth. And 84w huh? I got recommended to run 60w on another thread.

Also any pictures would be greatly appreciated!!

Its a little overkill on the lighting. I'm sure 60w would be enough. Have you looked into the 9w soft white household bulbs? Blynx is killing it with those bulbs over on icmag. You pop the plastic dome off and they make great grow lights. I saw them for $1 a bulb during the holidays and they are 6/$10 here locally.

Thanks alot weed-whacker :) No, I don't have much posted at riu. I have tutorials of these builds and some journals on other sites though. Next time I do a re-mod I'll post it up on riu though..

I'm currently building a PC grow case using LEDs, the lighting is internal but separate to the main growing area. Currently I'm using 20 x 10w warm white led in strings of 5 powered by 1 x dcdc converter per string (50v @ 740mA) the converters are powered by 1 x 12v 7A power pack to 2 converters, and the power packs are placed where the PSU would have been. The LDS are mounted to an aluminium plate, 5" wide, 14" long and 1/8" thick with reclaimed heatsinks dotted around the surface. Air is pulled over these by the PSU fan, with the intake from the front of the case. The light assembly takes about 1 1/2" of the height of the case, and the power units about 3", leaving a decent amount of room. Light temp (of the plate) stabilises at 46 C, internally about 28 C.

Edit - I realise it seems to be a bit overkill for the space, but it is below the saturation level. I'll post pics of the internals (although I can't show the wiring as its all enclosed now) later once I get the pics and strip them.

Awesome I'm about to convert a 3x1.5x4 ft dresser. Slowly amassing the cob light setup pieces right now, then after that's done it's box work.
