Potential New Grow Site

I may be moving soon and there's a potential for a decent grow site. The place has a 5' X 5' greenhouse and two 10' X 10' basement areas.

What I'm thinking is veg in one of the basements, keep a mother or two in the other, and flower in the greenhouse.

We're in the Northeast so temperature control might be a bit of an issue but I don't think that's overwhelming. A couple of low power space heaters should handle that nicely but I do want to set up to do a perpetual harvest.

Any ideas folks?

Oh I'll be using LED's for lighting in the veg and mother rooms. At least I think that's the smart move to keep my electric footprint down.

I don't have a greenhouse up here but from what I can tell from others, most use them to shoulder the seasons rather than to run a perpetual grow. It lets them plant earlier and grow later. They don't really use it to grow in the dead of winter. The heating demands are tremendous, and you still have to use lights at least part of the cycle.

Why not just use one 10x10 for veg/mothers and the other for flower? You can use the greenhouse as a 3 season room. That's a lot of space.....

@greg nr nailed it.

You have to grow with the season in your green house. You can get a later start and you can grow later into the season (so you can do Sativas!). But in the winter, heating and lighting costs wouldn't be worth it.

Your basement rooms are big enough to do a veg/mother room and a flower room.

Okay makes sense.

I was kind of hoping I could use the greenhouse as a flowering room as it's away from the house to mitigate the smell. Of course I always hope I've got the winning lottery ticket too LOL

So I should use the greenhouse only during the spring and summer? Perhaps grow a different strain out there?

Carbon filters will take care of the smell, distance will do you no good friend lol.

You can run your green house from April to late October or early November potentially. Depends on how well it holds heat. You could run Sativas or run whatever you run in your basement. Start your seeds or take your clones inside in late January, pot them up a few times and keep em inside until April, get em as big as you can; then move them in your green house in preferably beds. They'll get gigantic, and while it'll take longer for them to finish. You're harvest should be larger as well. And you didn't have to pay for lighting so it's more valuable to you.

Thanks a ton Rasta. I very genuinely appreciate your advice and counsel. Reading through what you've said and, considering we won't be moving there until probably October / November I think I might be best suited to vegging in one side of the basement and flowering in the other just to get a supply going through the latter part of the year. Quite frankly I don't use the stuff as I never liked the effect it had on me. I want to grow because my lady has Colitis and it REALLY helps her thus the reason I'd like to get a perpetual grow going. Not to mention I have grown some plants before but had to give them up right before flowering which was very disappointing (we moved across the country and didn't want to transport across state lines). I was having a lot of fun just seeing the fruits of my labors getting big and leafy. A carbon filter won't be a problem (engineering and design background and I'm fairly handy) I was just hoping that, if I utilized the greenhouse during the winter months, properly insulated it, and utilized some high quality LED's (which I have access to for WAY less than general market pricing), a few heaters, I could mother in one of the basements, veg in another, and flower in the green house, just to keep the smell away from the house. But, again, I do appreciate your thoughts man.

I'm not saying you couldn't outfit your greenhouse to grow in the winter months, just sharing my experience. Outfitting and running greenhouses in the winter time is much more expensive than running plants indoors. However running a greenhouse in the summer time is waaaay more efficient and cost effective than growing indoors.

My wife has crohns disease so I known what it's like dealing with colitis! It fucking sucks watching someone you love go through that shit. And I'm just a huge pothead lol. But I found a way to turn it into a living so it worked out.

Run perpetual indoor if it's needed for meds, much less chance of losing a cycle. Mother, veg, clone in one 10x10, flower in the other. I'd cut flower down to 6x10 and cycle 4-6 plants in every 4-5 weeks. About a pound per cycle. Then pack the greenhouse full for an outdoor run every year. One plant in that 5x5 greenhouse in April could fill it by the time it starts flowering.

Damn bro. Ya it sucks. Until we got mind diagnosed she nearly coded twice. Thank GOD we found a good doc in time. That's a hard condition to deal with thus I want to make damn sure she's got the meds she needs and, like I said, I love growing.

3 zones are ideal yeah. Can yield more, more often. A greenhouse can be a cool veg area as it typically is warm and humid and you can extend daylight hours with only a bit of artificial light. Vegging eats lots of power indoors because of the long hours.

What do you think about LED's with heaters indoors?

Make it COBs and a split AC, I also have a ceiling fan.
Do you think in that amount of space I could do a perpetual with maybe 1 lb a month harvest? I'm pretty keen to try making some edibles. Never had enough on hand to take a run at that. I think those would do my girl some good. Get up in the morning and have some toast with cannabutter on it or maybe a brownie. Suck on some 'jolly ranchers' during the day and so on.
