Pretty Good Deal on CFLs

Things like that remind me of the printer.

Get a printer for almost free then pay millions for the ink.

Quit extreme example. no harm ment.

But by the time you add up all that wire all those sockets extra fans because it spread way out. The pentration really sucks so then you need another 12 to take up the slack now more sockest and wire.

The plus side is it would be cheaper to get started. Then have a better idea if growing is for you. Then go get the good stuff. Let the cfl's take care of momma.

I can get sockets at lowes for $0.97 each, and 25' of wire for $9.99. A 12 light rack can be made for less than $60. No need for extra fans, these things don't run that warm. I've now got 24 lights in a 65cu.ft. room and the temp stays at 75. Some of my lights are the 42 watt, all at 2700k spectrum. My exhaust is 70cfm, so nothing extreme is needed to keep things cool. My grow is doing excellent. Granted, maybe not as good as if I had used mh or hps. I understand that much. My insane-o cfl array will be tested with a scrog immediately after my harvest. Penetration will not be a big issue and I'm sure to have corner to corner coverage and sufficient lumens.

Thanks for the info. I need to stop answering post where I have no experience.

I keep reading all those tech papers and to me it didn't seem to be that good a deal.

That new PUR cfl is the one I'm interested in and it's 200w. If it works I think it will be the futher.

No prob. I'm sure the cost per lumen and lumen per watt ratio isn't as high as the beefier hids and the yields lower and grow times longer. Being my first grow, cfls were the way to go. You know, add as you go type thing. With the limited space in my room mh and hps would probably present a problem and would require additional cooling and ventilation. My grow is uber-stealth. My vent fan runs at 1 sone, there are zero light leaks, and you wouldn't know it if you were standing 6 inches from it. I've been forced to use cfls with this tiny op. I've only got 2 plants with 24 cfls bearing down on 'em and I've got some big thick crystal coated nugs of joy everywhere, even on the bottom branches.
